Author's note: There are no Broodles or talking hats because I'm lazy and didn't want to add in a million extra things. This means no Cappy/ Cappy's sister, no Cap or Cascade Kingdoms, and no moons because Mario has a more efficiently powered Odyssey.

Many of the guards looked confused as Peach sprinted down the halls of her castle. She made it to the ballroom and sat on her throne surrounded by birthday presents, with barely enough time to catch her breath before the doors opened.
Guests flooded the entrance and into the ballroom to finally celebrate the princess' birthday. Everyone was as dressed up as they could be, looking fancy, chic, and handsome. But the real star of the party was still yet to show up.
At last, Peach caught Mario's glance and waved. He looked around confused before pointing at himself and mouthing the word, "Me?"
Princess Peach smiled sweetly and nodded. Mario waved back and made his way towards her throne before getting cut off and interrupted by Luigi. The brothers began talking just out of earshot and Peach rolled her eyes.
Many Toadstools came up and wished her a happy birthday, but the princess couldn't seem to get Mario's attention. She thought about what Toadette had said. Maybe he's just nervous, she told herself. That's why he hasn't proposed or talked to me yet. Yes, that's it. Peach looked satisfied with that conclusion and decided to try to enjoy her party. He'll come to her when he's ready.
However, despite her efforts, she often found herself looking for Mario. When she did, he was usually talking to Captain Toad or Luigi, who were both dressed pretty dapper. She tried to pay attention to all who talked to her, but she couldn't stay in one place mentally.
Out of nowhere, the sound of propellers spinning roared above the castle. The partygoers looked around, confused. Captain Toad and Toadette looked at each other and nodded, ready for what came next. They ran across the room to the princess, but were stopped in their tracks when the palace roof crumbled underneath the weight of a flying space-boat.
A roar rang out, shattering everyone's eardrums and all of the nearby glass. At last, upon the ship, dressed in a classy white suit with a matching white tophat, was the star.
