" I fell in love with you. I didn't do it on purpose."Author unknown

King Poe's spying had consequences.  Rey leaped up and began to flee but Poe was quicker and lunged for her,  grabbing her around her waist.
She came down with not much effort, the snow cushioning her fall.

She struggled against  him  half heartedly.  Poe pinned her arms above her head so she would be unable  to strike him.
She had no intention of the sort. She was thoroughly enjoying herself.

" Please sir!" She said breathlessly, " please don't carry me off and do unspeakable, wicked things to me!"

"I'm not  going to carry you off."   Poe reassured her.  " You are a lady and must be treated as such."

Rey was incredulous!  She couldn't believe his cheek!  How dare he insult her in this manner!

" Why not?"  She was shocked at this treatment. Why was he being such a damnable gentleman?
" Do I repulse you? Do you not find me attractive ?  Don't you want to ravage me?"  She asked hopefully.

" Yes, yes I do!"  Poe  answered  worried that he had offended this lovely creature.
'Oh dear' he thought. What part of that argument was he saying 'Yes' too?

" What?  You find me ugly?"  She hissed.

  " No , I find you very  attractive m'lady. But it's just .... I couldn't defile your obvious innocence!"

Reyna didn't know if she liked his compliment or not.  She was always  told in gushing and glowing terms how beautiful  and special she was .  She was raised and trained to be a queen, she knew of nothing else.

" You must run away with me!" She insisted.  " I command you!"

Poe was amused at her tone and tried very hard to not laugh in her face.

Reyna did not see the humor in the kings eyes. She had no idea who he was, so she continued her ranting.

She walked around in a circle  like a bird in a cage.   " Your retched king has forced me to come here.  I'm not ready to hand over myself yet..... so, I'm running away." She declared defiantly.
She wasn't sure why she was telling him this. Maybe it was his kind eyes, or maybe because she felt safe with him.  She didn't know but she trusted him with her life.

" You've just dropped out of the sky at my feet. You are the answer to my prayers.
Brave sir, I have decided that you shall be my protector."

Poe blushed at being called 'Wretched and then a 'Protector sent from Heaven'.

He now knew who she was, she was the Princess Reyna from Jakku. Thank the Force she didn't know  who he was!

Now that he had met her, there was no need for him to hide.  No reason to  be afraid  of a unknown woman.

She was lovely and sweet and innocent and he would move Heaven and Earth to see that she stays right here, with him.

" Oh,  M'lady. Please let me persuade you to stay."

She looked at him askance and wondered if her Saint was now playing a trick on her.

" Just follow me , and I will show you the beauty and wonders  of  Naboo."

They came to a clearing and gazed down onto a  quant village with a impressive cathedral on one side a formidable castle on the other.    It was sitting on a hill with a commanding view of the valley.

" Everyone is happy living here." He began. " By royal command the weather cannot be too hot in the summer and there's a legal limit to the snow in the winter."

Reyna  knew she was being teased but rather enjoyed his playfulness.

"By eight a.m. the morning fog has flown. It never rains until after sun down and by nine p.m.  the stars are out to twinkle and  wink down on the sleeping heads of  happy villagers every where."

As they looked over the sleepy village there faces got closer and closer . Rey felt his warm breath on her face and her eyes fluttered closed expecting him to kiss her.

Suddenly they were was jarred out of  their  intimate moment by a loud cry from behind them.

"Here's the Princess! The Princess is here!  We found her!"

Poe sensed Reyna's alarm and grabbed her wrist , preventing her from fleeing again.

Without warning there was a cry, but this time it was... "The king! The king. It's the King of Naboo!"
Some one had recognized him, even in his commoner disguise.

Immediately everyone went on their knees and bowed in respect to the King.

Reyna stood dumbfounded, suddenly feeling the aching cold in her feet and a growing heat of embarrassment in her face.

She was the only one left standing.
She stood next to who she thought was a common thief, but then her eyes went wide with the revelation.

Poe was smart enough to look bashful and mildly ashamed as Reyna looked at him with new eyes.

He shrugged and smiled sheepishly, then loosened his grip on her wrist, fully expecting for her to go back to her own people.
He was pleasantly surprised when she stayed.

They rode into the castle grounds  on one horse. He sitting behind her with his arms tightly around her waist.
People cheered and applauded when they recognized their sovereign and a noble lady , clearly this was their future Queen.

Two days later Reyna finds herself dressed in royal robes and walking down the aisle towards a priest and a very nervous  King Dameron. He wiped the sweat from his brow as she approached, then took her hand in his. He felt her tremble a little  but calmed when the they looked into each other's eyes.

Thousands of lit candles glowed and shimmered, casting a ethereal light on the blushing
bride.

She didn't mind at all. Poe was a good man and a strong King. Even though he was at least twenty years older than her she would convince herself she could grow to care for him.

The witnessing of the consummation was very disagreeable but it had to be done in order for their marriage to be fully recognized by the church.
She wasn't told anything about what to expect from the marriage  act.   No one explained to her that it would hurt the first time and she shouldn't expect much.
Just keep doing what was expected of her until she gave the king his  heir.

    Three years later........

Reyna  tried not to feel too much resentment to all of the guilt that was thrown at her.  Of course it couldn't be the Kings fault she had not conceived in three years.

She covered her disappointment with a pretty smiles and tried not to dwell to much on her empty womb.  Her standing  in the Court was precarious with no issue to show  her worth  as a queen. She must be pious and devoutly religious to make up for her lack of fertility. Every day, she must pray for the king and the country.   She tried her best, but her resentment and loneliness grew to be almost unbearable.

Poe tried to be a good husband in that matter,  but  had given up sleeping with her two years into their marriage.  His main purpose in life now was ruling his kingdom.

He wanted to start a new program for knights. He thought  maybe he could find a suitable replacement for himself before it was to late.
He wasn't getting any younger and Rey was barren ,much to his disappointment.

Rey did her best to support him but he was gone on campaign  sometimes for months and  she grew despondent forlorn.

She couldn't help the feelings of abandonment and utter loneliness.
