Orchid's POV:
It's been over a month since Grayson took me back to his father's house, and I've gotten used to the change of living here. However, on the day that Grayson picked me up that following morning at my father's house... he had been distant. It's rare when I see him now, whenever I would try and make small talk with him when he takes me to school, he wouldn't say much. The strange thing is that Marissa has been getting picked up every day by Shawn, he's been dropping Marissa off at school these past few weeks, and he comes over almost every day now. It gets awkward at times whenever we run into each other. We don't speak at all to one another, though Marissa tries to ease the tension between us.
It hasn't been easy coping with everything I've learned from my father, I refuse to speak to him. I'm still angry, but every now and then Damien would message me to ask how I've been. It's bittersweet, the way we ended things was mutual but still painful. That morning when I woke up, he wasn't by my side anymore. And that's how it should be, I just hope...he takes care of himself. He's agreed to stay with my father to keep an eye out for him. I could only assume that my dad is going through a hard time just like I am-
"Orchid, what answer did you get? Hey, are you listening-"
"What? Oh...uhh, I haven't done the question yet."
I responded as Marissa and I did our homework in her room, I have to focus! There's no point in worrying about things if they're just gonna stress me out...
"Hey, can I ask you something? What's going on with you and my brother? Ever since I came back from meeting with Shawn that night...it's like you both have been avoiding each other now. I know Grayson has always been distant, but lately...I haven't seen him as much."
She asked while setting her work to the side as she looked over at me.
"So you've noticed too...I don't know what's going on with him. He's gone all night hunting...and when he comes back in the mornings, he takes me to school and I'm not sure what he does when he comes back here. Maybe he sleeps? But on the weekends when I'm here all day, he's gone. I try and talk to him, but he's been strict...do you think he's mad at me?"
I asked while tapping my pencil on my notepad...
"I don't want to assume anything, but...it could be that he's seeing Judy maybe? I heard from Shawn that he's been seeing Grayson alot more around Fang Claws hideout during the day. He doesn't have a reason to be over there? Oh! That reminds me, did you hear the news? I just found out yesterday, but it turns out Joanna is pregnant. I hope she has a girl this time..."
With Marissa speaking about Joanna's pregnancy, I dropped my pencil as I was just stuck on the mindset of Grayson and Judy being together. I don't wanna believe it's real, but...it is a probability. Even if Grayson did tell me he wouldn't let anyone mark him. Who's to say he didn't change his mind since then...
"That's great news...I'm happy for her. But, how do you guys give birth? Do you go to the hospital-"
"Only if it's an emergency we do go to the ER. But we have natural births in our homes, it's always been like that-"
"But isn't it painful? I would think you guys would want painkillers, and I would be scared giving birth at home-"
"Well of course you'll say that, you've lived your whole life with that human mindset. Listen, our wolves... pain isn't anything new for us. What most of us fear is the aftermath of giving birth...we have to stay away from our alphas. That's when they become very territorial of us, they even get upset at their mate for being overprotective of their baby. But it's that jealousy that runs deep in our instincts that we can't control. So usually, the alpha's are never with their mate during labor. It's for everybody's safety, but so far, there haven't been any accidents in our group."
