Grayson's POV:

"Come on! Just give me a chance, I won't mess up. I promise!"

Marissa moped as she kept pleading behind me.

"I said no-"

"Why not!? I'm old enough to go hunting! It's boring having to stay home all day and wait for you guys to return."

She explained while yanking on my arm, I swear, she's become more of a brat every day...

"I don't care if you're of age, your wolf form is still too slow to catch up with us. And besides, your college classes are about to begin soon, shouldn't you be preparing for that instead?"

I pointed out as I pulled my arm away from her...

"But-"

"Grayson is right, you should be focused on your studies instead of hunting..."

Marissa and I both shifted our gaze towards our father who came walking behind us, it wasn't until he came to a stop that we both stayed silent until he was finished talking. Though Marissa took a few steps behind me as she looked down, she always does this, avoiding eye contact whenever he speaks to us. So childish...

"I understand father, I have been studying. It's just that, I don't get to be in my wolf form that much. And because of that, I'm not as strong as I wish I could be-"

"You are strong enough, whether you believe it or not. Furthermore, when it comes to hunting, we always have the male wolves do the killing. Yes, you female wolves may be faster, however, the alpha males are far stronger-"

"I already know that! But I still want to help hunt-"

"You are so hard-headed, I already told you that you aren't fast enough yet."

I voiced out in annoyance as I stepped to the side, Marissa then growled at me before walking away from our father, honestly, the disrespect that she gives just pisses me off!

"Marissa! Get back here, don't walk away-"

"It's alright, just let her go so she can calm herself down."

Father quickly said as he stopped me from following her...

"She needs to start respecting you as not only the head alpha of the pack but as her father. I understand that she's always been close to me and our mother, despite our age gap. I've always seen her as such a small pup, but now that she's grown...she needs to start acting her age. Perhaps I come off a bit too strict with her, but I think it's because my older brother was once strict on me..."

It wasn't until I was done talking that I felt my father resting his hand on top of my head, were practically the same height, but he still comforted me as if I was that same injured little wolf he saved decades ago...

"Don't be so hard on yourself, it's me that failed as a father. I wasn't there when she was growing up, being the head pack of Fang Claw has made me so busy that I hardly get to speak with her. It's strange, but I still remember holding her when she was a newborn. Such a small thing she was, where did the time go? Marissa has gotten so big now that she's now an adult... maybe her mother and I should have given her a sibling-"

"No offense Father, but you and Mother aren't as young anymore when I first met you decades ago. I think Marissa just needs to grow up and act her age, it's not your fault that you're always busy. The pack needs you to keep this place safe, along with the town..."

I said to him as we both began to make our way to his office room.

"Ah, yes...the town. This town used to be filled with humans, but throughout the years, more of them began to leave. Though I've made it very clear to the pack that we are to never harm the humans, however..."
