CHAPTER SIXTEEN:

Patience is an important virtue that requires many years to inculcate in a person. Sometimes, a person may need a catalyst to start learning the art of patience, and the catalyst may appear in a form of a fairly irritating person that manages to get on your nerves somehow. It is then, would patience be cultivated, because you are forced to learn how to control your temper and your emotions when she is making you very angry.

The worst thing that can happen during this period is when another catalyst appears, threatening to push your carefully gathered patience over the edge of a high cliff. It is the ultimate test, to withstand the taunts of the catalyst and emerge victorious because if you do not, all your effort will go to waste.

So, you have to have patience, no matter what happens.

I sighed and tried to dig my heels into the solid pavement.

"I really don't have the mood to go shopping, girls. You both can go on without me perfectly." I said with strained patience.

Sophie rolled her eyes and continued pulling me to Jacob's car, just ignoring me as if I didn't say anything.

"Come on," Lydia pleaded, showing me her puppy dog eyes. "Take it as a night out."

"On a school day! I have homework, and I need to check on Wes." I protested.

"School homework are not meant to be done, and Wes won't shrivel up and die without you so..." Sophie waved at Jacob and smiled sweetly. "You belong to us today."

  I sighed again.

Lydia had gotten her date yesterday, finally being asked out by Desmond, this super sweet guy which I didn't like the looks of because there is something strange about him, but maybe I was being paranoid. Anyway, Lydia absolutely adored him, and he asked her to the dance during lunch. And so, Sophie thought that today was the perfect time to go shopping for their dresses and they are not taking into account that I, like ME, didn't have a date. Not that I minded, but it was the best reason to use to attempt to persuade them.

When I say attempt, it means that I'm failing.

"Come on, Juliet. Lighten up a little. You can help me choose, because I'm hopeless with dresses." Lydia encouraged.

"Liars go to hell, Lydia. You're a better fashionista than me. I'll probably be snoozing half the time." I retorted.

"Enough with the excuses. We need your cold, hard criticism, alright?" Sophie cut in.

"You make me sound inhumane." I raised an eyebrow, still trying to resist their gradual pull towards Jacob.

"You are harsh. You never approve of our choices." Sophie shook her head in disbelief.

  "Choices of dresses, or boys?"

I didn't like Jacob either. I'm sorry, but you know, I really scrutinize guys, and in my opinion, Jacob was way to materialistic for my liking. I mean, just look at his car. He saved up for millions of years to buy the BMW, and it just looks like any other car, but it meant the world to him.

  Isn't it materialistic?

"Both. Which we both need and love dearly." Lydia smiled and pulled me into the back seat.

"Hello girls." Jacob flashed a brillant smile.

  "Hello," Sophie crooned.

"If we're shopping for your dresses, why is he sending us?" I asked.
