HELLO MY DARLINGS! Man, it has been long!:) Anyway, this chapter was difficult to write. I mean it. I'm not sure if you guys would feel the same way as me, but I took me weeks and two deletes of the chapter before I felt it was right but even then, I'm not secure about it. Yikes. But this was definitely the most raw chapter I'd ever written. Anyway, this one is dedicated to JOANNE! For being so awesome and reading my story, you totally deserve this! Enjoy!
“I don't know how to begin,” Thomas admitted.
He looked wan. Tired. Exhausted. He was sick, and here I was, clamoring him for a story. Nice going, Juliet. A thumbs up for being kind and considerate. Well, Thomas was still an evil villain, but you must always be nice to your enemies. Karma keeps track of such stuff.
“Are you sure you're up for this?” I asked critically. “You like you might die any moment; not that I mind of course.” I added quickly.
No need for him to think that I was actually concerned for him.
A tiny smirk appeared on his face.
Oh what was I thinking? Of course, he would think that way.
“If it helps me to score sympathy points with you, why not?” He chuckled, trying to get up into sitting position.
I helped him immediately, my instincts taking over. Damn you, instincts. Can you take a rest? And like, not function for the next six hours? That would be much appreciated.
Thomas' smile grew wider. Then, it faded.
“Juliet,” He pronounced my name carefully.
I felt the strangest tingling start up from my spine. It was weird, having him call me by my name with no spite, no anger, no hidden meanings.
It was weird to talk to him without plotting or scheming.
“Yes?” I looked at him.
Bad mistake.
Our faces were so close to each other, the moment I looked up, I could see into his eyes. No, I do not sound like a total lovestruck girl. I mean it. It was just that the beauty of his eyes threw me off balance. You don't believe me? Fine. I shall describe it to you.
Thomas' eyes weren't just brown. There were four shades to it. The outermost shade was a near black brown, with the tiniest tint of beige. The second layer was a lighter brown, you know? The kind you see on the bark of trees. The third layer was an even lighter shade, with gold flecks and the innermost layer was nearly pure gold.
There. Wasn't it pretty? How can such a heart breaker possess such beautiful eyes? It seemed almost unfair. Oh wait, he had those eyes to break the hearts of many. I forgot.
I blinked. Crap, was I staring into his eyes? I jerked back suddenly, shaking my head a little. I peeked a little to see if he was smirking or something but he was just being normal. Like, looking down, not meeting my gaze kind of normal.
Thomas was never normal.
I felt myself smile a little. If I was right, he was staring into my eyes just as deeply as I was fascinated by his.
That ought to count as an accomplishment, right?
“Anyway, as I was saying before, I don't know how to begin.” He told me.
I settled beside him, crossing my legs and thinking hard.
Hey, this was awkward, alright?
“We'll do it interview style. You know, question by question.”
“So I'll be at the mercy of you?” Thomas coughed.
