I AM BACK! WOW it has been two years since I had last uploaded. I am so, so incredibly sorry for leaving this story off just like that but at Chapter Thirty-Six, something happened in my life that rendered me incapable of writing. ANYWAY, I AM BACK. I'm not sure if people are still going to read this BUT I AM DETERMINED TO FINISH THIS. It was like Christmas, you know? Having all these characters waiting for me to just complete it and writing this has been a great, great joy. I'm not going to stop anytime soon! (I promise, more regular updates.) ENJOY!

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN:

“Juliet?” I heard Richard call out and I froze.

Oh gosh. I don’t even know if I should be glad that he was here or not. I could barely remember the last time I saw him. I did text him, telling him that I got the flu, courtesy of Thomas but nothing else. The rest of the conversation between Thomas and I…it didn’t feel right to tell anyone else about it.

Richard wouldn’t understand anyway. His purpose was to destroy Thomas. Mine…what was my purpose now?

Thomas paused in his attempt to drag me back into that infernal room.

“I didn’t know that we would have company,” His voice lifted into a mocking sneer again.

He was gone. That Thomas that was transparent with a heartbeat-he was gone again.

“I didn’t expect to see you here,” Richard slung one arm around my shoulder casually, dragging me a foot away from Thomas.

“Oh, don’t mind me,” Thomas flashed us a smile. “I’ll just return to the fair lady waiting for me at the restaurant,” He gave Richard a mock-salute. “Don’t forget about us, Juliet,” He warned. “The game is still on, so no running around with undesirables,” He winked.

I felt this crushing disappointment balloon up in my chest as he walked away, each step bouncing with arrogance and cockiness again. He was gone. Thomas from the room was gone.

“You didn’t tell me that you planned this,” Richard spun me around to look at me in the eye. “You don’t look happy to see me,” He added.

I sighed and gave him a smile.

“What are you doing here?” I asked. “This is a thing for kids.”

“Woah there, missy,” Richard shook his head. “I would ask you the same thing, seeing as Thomas was dragging you around.”

“I’m here with Tom and Juliet,” I stole a glance at Thomas again. “It was supposed to be a trio thing but someone had to butt in,” I muttered.

I was more frustrated with this mess of feelings that I was facing. Two weeks ago, my mind was running in tandem with Richard’s, our goal simple. Then, one stupid night stuck with him and I’m confused. There was a part of me, an exceptionally unwilling part but a part nonetheless that wanted to get to know Thomas. Maybe I want to because he understood what I was going through too. How can I drive someone to destruction when he’s the only other person who knows the worst things that fly about in my head?

“He’s falling for you,” Richard’s voice shook my out of my thoughts.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” I was in no mood for his antics.

“I know the signs, Grace,” I flinched at his use of my surname again. “I’m pretty sure that was a legitimate show of jealousy when I came over.”

“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” I shook my head at him.

“Darling,” He pulled me a little closer, making my heart speed up with confusion. “We have even kissed. I don’t think there is anything like awkwardness between us anymore, right?”
