I'M FOLLOWING THE MANGA!!

1964, 5 years before the disappearance

"Tag, you're it!"

Tag. An easy game, where one person chases the other. No more rules. How much can you give, so for one day you can forget about adulthood problems, just to play the game of tag. Or any other game, like for example hide-and-seek. Or at least take care of children indecision, like:

"Yu-ka-ri-chan! Let's play with them!"

(H/c)-haired girl ineptly tried to get her best friend, which was sitting by the table, to go with her. Blonde only corrected her glasses, that were sliding off.

The other girl didn't give up. She sat beside her and rest her head on  comrade's arm. "Can't you do this at home?"

No answer. Yukari didn't even look up from her notes.

"I'm serious! We have free-time now..."

"That's why I'm doing it now" she finally answered, although not like it was expected.

Unhappy from her best friend's attitude (e/c)-eyed slid from the chair. She didn't surrender, so she continued: "And why do you need to do it now?"

"I will have more time, to learn more things"

"It doesn't make sense!" (h/c)-haired resigned laid down, hiding her face in the grass. "Doing something, just to be busy again..."

"Math won't get done by itself."

"We are eight!" she shouted to the ground. "One day you will regret avoiding fun for school."

"Speak for yourself. You will be the one, who will regret your insubordination"

"Insurobi... Whatever!" (Y/N) got up, grabbed Yukari and forced to look at her. "Can't we do something fun?"

"I am having fun"

(Y/N) stamp her foot, crossed arms and acted as she was greatly offended. She knew, that it was the final way to make Yukari rethink her proposition. It worked this time as well, because the other girl told her:

"Go without me. I'll join when I finish."

(H/c)-haired girl sighed. She corrected her shirt, and moved towards the crowd. She was just going to yell and ask about joining, when in the corner of her eye, she noticed someone sitting alone by a tree.

'No! I didn't convince Yukari-chan, but I'm not giving up this time!' she thought, and went to, as it turned out, the boy reading the book. When she reached him,  she crouched down and asked: "Why are you not playing along?"

The boy ignored her, completely absorbed by what he was doing. The girl flinched, and tried to get his attention in a different way. She reached her hand out to him and waved in front of his face. He instantly went pale and closed the book as fast as he could, slamming her hand. (Y/N) fell backwards in shock.

"(L-L/N)-san? I'm sorry, you scared me!"

"Don't worry, I'm okay" the girl quickly got up, dust herself off, and asked again: "Yugi-kun, why aren't you playing with others?"

The boy became sullen after hearing that question. He looked back at the book, gently moving his index finger on the paper. "I can't."

(Y/N) shook her head, surprised. She did not expect that answer. What does he mean he can't? "Why?"
