When they got to the village, an old priestess was waiting at the entrance. "Evening travelers. The name's Oaki Ran." (Pronounced Oh--Key Ron)
"Nice to meet you Lady Okai. We were hoping to stay here for a few days to rest and nourish our bodies in preparation for our quest. We hope you accept us into your village, kind priestess." Miroku asked.
"Why, of course, monk," Lady Oaki said warmly. "You and your friends are more than welcome to stay for as long as you like."
"Thank you, Lady Oaki. Do you need any exorcisms done on any part of the village?" Miroku asked, a smirk forming on his face.
"Why yes, in fact..." The priestess' voice got softer as Miroku and Oaki walked away. Miroku and the old priestess were walking away swiftly as if in a hurry to exorcise anything in their path.
"Damn that lecherous monk," Sango said angrily.
Poor Sango, Kagome thought, She could never get Miroku away from any girl, woman, or lady. Plus, Sango cares about him so much and he doesn't even realize it.
"Wanna catch some fish for tonite?" InuYasha asked.
"I would love to. Besides, I am really hungry," Kagome stated. "Let's go Shippo! Kilala, do you want to come help?"
Kilala replied with a nod and a "mew".

"You're just jealous because I caught the biggest fish!" InuYasha boasted. Kagome laughed lightly.
"No faaiiirrrr!" Shippo whined. "I got the smallest fish. Does that mean I have to eat it?"
"I'm sure Kilala would appreciate your fish, right?"
"Mew!" Kilala exclaimed.

When they got back to the village, Sango ate in silence. She is still angry about what happened before, Kagome thought.
InuYasha was sitting near the entrance of the dining area with Miroku, murmuring about something.
"You know, I could care less now about that monk," Sango repulsed. "All he does is fall for women other than me."
"I'm sure that's not true Sango. I know you've been through a lot, believe me. But maybe Miroku needs to find out that you have feelings for him." Kagome explained.
Sango snorted. "All men are the same, Kagome, no matter how hard you try to change them."
"Yea, I guess your right."

(While Sango and Kagome are talking:)
"InuYasha, do you think Sango has feelings for me?" Miroku asked InuYasha. Miroku could see the ladies chatting, but couldn't catch what they entirely what they were saying.
"...care less...monk...men are the same...change them."
"I dunno," InuYasha replied. "Maybe she secretly does."
"Maybe. I do have feelings for her, but I'm not sure she thinks the same InuYahsa. You and Kagome are special, but Sango and I have a struggling relationship."
"Ask Kagome then. She'd be sure to tell you something."
Miroku sighed. "I don't think she would say anything, even if I bribed her." He could never admit to Sango he loved her, unless she admitted first.

Kagome, InuYasha, and Shippo slept in the same room, while Miroku and Sango slept in another room. Kagome was wide awake; her head full of thoughts.
Maybe if I just stop thinking I'll drift off, Kagome thought.
Suddenly, she found herself in InuYasha's lap. He was fast asleep. She wrapped her arms around him, dreaming. Then, she put her lips to his. It lasted only a moment when InuYasha jolted awake. "Uh, Kagome? What are you doing?" he asked, clearly shocked.
Busted.
"Well..I, uh.."
"It's okay. No need to explain." InuYasha kissed her back. She felt safe in his arms, and wished it could last forever.
Shippo stirred, but didn't wake up.
"Goodnight Kagome," InuYasha whispered. "I love you to the moon and back."
"Goodnight InuYasha. I love you too."
InuYasha and Kagome both drifted off to sleep, each in each others arms.
