InuYasha's POV:
Setting: village next to forest

"Kagome," I asked. "How can we just sit here and eat sushi when there's a demon right next to us?"
"You're the one who said we should get more information." she pointed out.
"That's right, InuYasha. Why don't we relax awhile and prep for the demons battle ahead?" Miroku suggested.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, me! I thought. I walked out of the shrine, disappointed in myself. "Come on Kilala," I said.
"Where are you taking her?" Sango asked.
"Training," I replied bitterly. Kilala's body was surrounded with fire, then she was about as tall as I was. We flew off towards a nearby lake, but far enough that Kagome couldn't hear me. "Here Kilala. Drop me off here." I commanded. Kilala hovered down to the ground. I hopped off. "Go join Sango and the others. Tell them I'll be back by sundown," I told Kilala.
Kilala nodded, then flew the direction we came.

I spend the last three hours deep with my thoughts and smashing rocks with my sword, the Tetsusaiga. Kagome came to the river at sunset to look for me.
"What's wrong InuYasha?" she asked.
I didn't respond. She must've known that something was wrong, or else she wouldn't have came to find me, I thought. She put her hand on top of mine.
"I know you miss your family. I wish I got the chance to see them." Kagome said.
I wanted to run back to the village and shield myself in solitude, but instead I sat there with Kagome. We haven't had much time together, other than the past few days because I mourned. A lot. She didn't know that my family was dead, except for my brother, Sesshomaru, and I hated him. All he wanted was vengeance and solitary confinement to all humans. It was aggravating when he tried to take Kagome away almost a year ago. Should I tell her about this, or will she feel sorry for me because my family was dead? I asked myself.
"Kagome, there's something I've been meaning to tell you..." I stopped.
"I know, InuYasha. You're family...except Sesshomaru...is dead." she whispered.
I was dumbfounded. How could she know about this?!
"Did Miroku, Sango, or Shippo tell you this?" I asked Kagome.
She shook her head. "Shesshomaru told me when he captured me...I'm sorry," she said. "It's all my fault for saying that."
"Kagome...it's okay. It's not your fault." I soothed.
"Really, because I witnessed your mother being killed by Sesshomaru," she sobbed. "I'm so sorry InuYasha! I couldn't do anything to save her!"
I clenched my fist in one hand, and held Kagome's hand gently in the other. Sesshomaru, my own kin, killed Sokai, my mother?
"I need to find Sesshomaru whenever I can," I told Kagome." I need to avenge my mother's death, and your capture."
Kagome nodded. She had small tears in her eyes from earlier. She looked up at me with sorrow in her eyes.
"No need to apologize, Kagome. Now let's get back to the village and get some rest."
She nodded. I carried her on my back, not saying a word until we got to our rooms in the village.

Kagome's POV:
InuYasha set me down in a mattress made of straw and hand knit blankets. He crawled in beside me, and whispered,"Kagome...it wasn't your fault my mother died. I need to get revenge on Shesshomaru, that's all."
I didn't answer, because I couldn't help that somehow, it was my fault Sokai got killed by Sesshomaru.
I fell asleep not to long after we got back from the river. When I woke up, it was dark outside. I guess I didn't sleep for very long. I looked over at InuYasha, who was at the corner of the room. His cloak was dotted with tears. Probably from yesterday, I thought.
I fell asleep again, and this time when I woke up, InuYasha was gone. I got out of my bed and went to ask Shippo about where InuYasha could have gone.
"I dunno Kagome. I'm sorry," he said. "Kilala was gone this morning though. Maybe he took off with her again last night."
"Yea, I guess. Thanks Shippo," I sighed. "Maybe he went into the forest."
"Could be. Do you have any 'Ninja Snacks' in your bag Kagome? I'm very hungry."
"Sorry Shippo, I don't."
"Aww," Shippo whined.
"While your here Shippo, tell Miroku and Sango that I'm going in the forest to search for InuYasha." I instructed.
"Okay. Be safe!" he called. Then, Shippo scampered off to find them.
I grabbed my bow, arrows, and my bag, and set of into the Forest Of Souls.
