"Who are you, and what is your name?" InuYasha asked the demon.

"Huh. And I thought you wanted to battle. My name's Kikari, the Soul Wolf demon." Kikari said.

Soul Wolf demon? InuYasha thought.

"Let's just get to ripping you to shreds," InuYasha said bitterly.

Kikari laughed. "You're cute when your angry, dog demon."

"Shut up! WIND SCAR!" InuYasha lashed his sword toward Kikari, but she managed to avoid it.

"Damn," he cursed. "She's fast."

"Let's see how you like Re and Qi's attacks. Summon guardians of the wolves, Re and Qi!!"

Then, two demon wolves appeared before InuYasha's eyes! They're spirits of wolves, InuYasha thought.

Kagome stirred. "Inu...Yasha..."

"Don't worry Kagome, I'll throw this demon down into her grave." he taunted.

"Re, Qi, attack!" Kikari commanded.

Re and Qi coiled around InuYasha, squeezing him.

I can't use my Wind Scar, or my Backlash Wave, he thought. Only if she had a weakness...

That's it! InuYasha cut free of Re and Qi's grasp.

"WINDSCAR!" Both Re and Qi vanished in mid air from the blinding yellow light. Kikari winced.

"Hmmph, no so tough without your demon puppets now, are ya?" InuYasha announced.

"We'll see about that," Kikari said. She drew a sword that looked like Sesshomaru's Tokijin, only it wasn't glowing. "The Sword of Spirits. Probably stronger than your mangy sword."

"Wanna bet?!" he challenged.

He looked at Kikari's sword. Demonic aura! he cheered in his head.

Kikari lashed her sword at InuYasha. CLANG. The sword flew back towards her.

She snorted. "Is that all you got?"

Come a little closer, Kikari, and I'll show you whose boss, he thought.

Kikari backed away from InuYasha. "Well, let's go already!" He announced.

InuYasha ran towards Kikari, knowing if he caught her off guard, he would rescue Kagome.

"Wind Scar!" he faked. She was caught in the yellow aura.

"Now's my chance!" He ran to where Kagome and Kilala were sitting, still unconscious. The white flame surrounding them had disappeared. He untied Kagome and Kilala.

"Kilala, take Kagome back to the village with Sango and Miroku!"

Kilala nodded. Then, she flew off with Kagome on her back.

"Curses you mangy half breed! I'll show you..."

Suddenly, there was a demonic aura surrounding Kikari. "Dancing Spirits!" She hurled a ball of white aura toward InuYasha.

Now! "BACKLASH WAVE!" Kikari's aura was flown back at her with whirlpools of InuYasha's demonic aura. Kikari screeched.

After the aura subsided, InuYasha found a woman on the ground, no longer looking like Kikari.

"Thank...you...for sav...ing me." she stumbled.

Was Kikari a human who lost her way in the forest? he thought.

"I died in this forest, and demons took over my body. Now I can truly be free. Thank you, InuYasha." Then, Kikari's body vanished.

"Huh. So much for that battle." He said out loud.

"Kagome, are you alright?" Kagome heard Miroku say. It was distant, but enough for her to hear it.

"Miroku, what...happened?" Kagome asked softly.

"I'm not sure, but Kilala said that you were held hostile while InuYasha fought against a part soul, part wolf demon named Kikari.

Something in Kagome's memories struck her.

Kikari, she thought. One if my long lost friends. Has she let demons take over her body like she said before?
