"InuYasha?"
InuYasha looked below the tree he was perched on and saw his girlfriend, Kagome Higurashi. She had an upbeat look on her face, and her eyes were sparkling like flowers freshly dotted with dew on the first spring morning.
"Hey InuYasha! We found a forest not to far from here with a village just on the outskirts. Sango, Miroku, Kilala and Shippo are waiting for us!"
Oh Kagome, InuYasha thought, If only I could understand your excitement and cheerfulness.
InuYasha was just getting over how he had to leave his family. There was his mother, Sokai, (a mortal) his father, Mikoshi (a full fledged dog demon) and his brother, Sesshomaru (who was also a full fledged demon).
"Coming Kagome!" he called in his most upbeat voice he could manage.

When they got to the new village, InuYasha grabbed Kagome's hand.
"Please stay out of danger," he pleaded. "Or else I will never be able to forgive myself."
"Okay, InuYasha. I will. Just promise to come for me when I do get in danger." Kagome replied with a smile.
"Are you serious?! I would never-" InuYasha's statement was cut off by Kagome.
"SIT BOY!!" she yelled. At that instant, InuYasha's necklace reacted to the command by pummeling him to the ground, face first.
"KAGOME, WHATCHA DO THAT FOR?!"
"Because you said--"
"You didn't let me finish!! I said I would never put you in danger and I would come to your rescue. It's what I do because..I-I love you, Kagome."
Kagome stood motionless. Did he just say he LOVES ME?!
"Oh, InuYasha," she murrmured. She threw herself into his arms. "I love you too."
"Come on you lovebirds!" Miroku and Sango chimed. "Don't you want to get something to eat?"
InuYasha's stomach growled.
"I guess that answers your question, InuYasha." Kagome laughed.
