"I hope I didn't interrupt anything?" She asks.
"No, not at all," I manage to say.
I look at Morgan and he slightly shrugs. she's eight so she might not know what she saw.Rhonda walks up to me, "do you have a pet?"
"No I-I don't." I stammer, still haven't gotten over the fact that she just saw me kissing her older brother.
"This is mine." she brings forward the bunny, and I bend a little and rub on the Bunny's furs.
"She's beautiful," I say Chirpily.
"Yes, she is. Her name is molly," she tells me. She's all happy about her introducing me to this molly bunny.
"Nice to see you molly," I say to the bunny as I gently stroke on its fur - I straighten up.
"Rhonda you should get inside, and Sam needs to get home," Morgan tells her.
"Oh sure, it was lovely to have you here Sam, and I hope you come over often," she tells me, and I raise my brows,
"Been here was nice," I tell her, and she smiles and trips inside.
As Rhonda is out of sight, I take a deep breath and look at Morgan nervously.
"I should...um," I click my tongue, "I should go," I say, and he beams.
He opens the car door for me, and I get in, and he closes the door slightly after whispering 'I'm glad I fit in.
I wrap my hands around the steering wheel and smile lands on my face. I actually did kiss him. The taste of his lips is to die for. I wish Rhonda didn't interrupt, I want more of it.
I get home and see my mom seated in the dining eating key-lime pie.
I greet her but she doesn't answer.
As I step onto the staircase, "Sam, do you think your dad would be proud to see you like this?" She bashes the fork on the plate.
I step down and scowl at her.
"Mom, don't even go there," I tell her. She can yell at me all she wants, but she shouldn't even dare to use dad against me."You don't get to tell me what dad would and wouldn't be proud of!" I yell.
"Keep that voice down when you are talking to me, young lady!" She shouts back as she bolts up.
"I don't know what you want from me, I've trying to be a better mom but you are just too difficult," she spites out.
I tighten my grip on the handrail. I smack my lips.
"Like dad was too difficult for you to be a better wife." My voice is small. She widens her eyes to my statement. She sighs.
"I and your dad just had a few misunderstandings." She strides towards me."Few?" I flinch back as she gets closer to me.
"You know, before he died I saw him crying bitterly in his room," I say with a brittle voice.
"But what do you care," I add, and run up to my room.I walk straight to my bathroom.
I brush my teeth and take a shower. I dress in my pajama and throw myself on the bed.
Facing the ceiling, I smile as I think about my day with Morgan, how beautiful it was, the kissing - as I think about the kiss, I take a deep breath and turn to the side. I feel guilty and at the same time happy.THE NEXT DAY in school, I stand in the hallway, from a distance looking at veronica as she applies make-up from her locker.
"It's not that hard, just tell her something nice about herself,"
Morgan says from behind me.
