"Are you okay?" Tracy asks.
I clear my throat. "Yeah, um...it's just too hot," I lie.
"Yeah, I can feel the hotness," Daniel mocks.
"It is a very hot coffee," veronica teases.
I look at Morgan as he does to me, I try to contain my jealousy as I manage to say, "so what do we do now?"
"About Xavier?" Morgan asks.
"It's none of your business, and besides, what the fuck are you doing here?" Daniel says in an umbrage tone.
Morgan leans forward. His hands are on the table.
"You gat a problem with me? Danny?" Morgan says sardonically."Did you just call me Danny?" He chuckles and then frowns. "You ain't worth being here, you are nothing but a pauper," Daniel says bluntly, and I know this isn't going to end well.
"Ooh, of course, I'm a pauper, I agree – I will rather be a pauper than an Illegitimate son of the rich, that has been traded for money," Morgan says insensitively, and I look at him with shocked eyes as well as the rest of us.
This triggers Daniel as he keeps quiet, glaring at Morgan, then at me.
I try to say something in my defense but there aren't any words to defend myself, and I realize I had made a mistake.Daniel stands up and leaves with frowns.
I can't believe Morgan just said all of that, I regret telling him. I pick up my bag and leave, after glowering at Morgan.
I get home and see my mom in the kitchen offloading the groceries she bought, that is much.
"Honey, you are back," she says as she sees me.
My eyes are still on the groceries lying on the counter, I walk towards it.
"Mom, what are all of these for?" I ask."Dinner, tonight, with Morgan's family," she says to remind me.
"Mom I didn't say they are coming," I say, shocked.
"What are you getting at?" She asks gravely and her happy face suddenly cranks.
"I mean they are not coming."
She stops offloading the groceries from the bag and scoffs.
"Are you saying they scorned my invitation? Are they sick or something?" She hisses, definitely angry. Why does she want this dinner so badly anyways?
"Um, no, they didn't. I just don't want them to come."
"Them? Or him?" She narrows her eyes.
"Him, actually."
"You two fought?"
"Kinda. Mom, I don't think there's any need for this, I'm not even sure if I and Morgan is a thing," I add.
"Well he certainly likes you and you like him too. Even if you haven't accepted it, the feelings will still be there," she says as she washes her hands on the sink.
"So call him, dinner at 8 pm," she adds, cleaning her hands with a short towel.
"Sure," I say tentatively, and go up to my room.
I'm forced to give Morgan a call, he should be the one calling me.
I dial his number, and he picks up immediately."I wasn't expecting your call," he says quickly.
"I wasn't either. My mom still insists on dinner."
"Really?"
"Yeah, you coming or not?" My tone is strict.
