I told Emma, Kira, and Dorothy about my crush on Zach. I had to in order to explain why I was crying when Emma came to pick me up. They weren't surprised, although they had thought Zach had the same feelings for me. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. I then told them about Margaret.
By the time I was finished with everything, I was halfway done with a tissue box and we finished a tub of ice cream. My eyes were puffy and red and i was sniffing. They had comforted me for a while, saying that it's Zach's loss for not seeing how great I am.
They left around nine, since it was still a school night, and I decided to take a shower and go to bed. I would've cried myself to sleep, but I think I had dried all my tears. I know I'm just torturing myself, still being hung up with Zach and all - but I can't help it.
The next morning, I woke up with a headache and decided to take a pill - feeling all groggy and sticky. I took a shower again and brushed my teeth. Entering my room, I heard a buzz coming from my phone, notifying me that I got a text. It was from Zach: 'I won't be able to pick you up, but we need totalk. Lucas will pick you up. I'll talk to you after school.' I signed throwing my phone on my bed. I prevented the tears from slipping as I began to get ready for school in jogger sweatpants, combat boots, a T-shirt and an oversized sweatshirt since it was getting colder now. I tied my hair up in a bun, deciding to wash it tomorrow.
I grabbed a banana from the fruit bowl and the table and muched on it, throwing the peel in the trash once I finished. I plopped on the chair with a sigh, deciding to put some music on. I picked, The Weeknd's Wicked Games, putting the volume on max. I grabbed my book bag, making sure all my books were inside, before exiting the house, deciding to wait for Lucas outside. I locked the door behind me.
Midway through his album, I heard Lucas' honk, alerting me he's here. Descending down the steps, I made my way to his car, slipping inside, giving him a smile. He began driving once I closed the door. "You dance..well." I felt there was a double-meaning behind it, but I shrugged it away,
"Thanks."
I laughed at the picture Lucas showed me, exiting the car. He came around the car and I hooked our elbows together, taking in his pout. "It wasn't that funny."
I laughed, remembering the picturing of his fearful face when his mom had frightened him. "But darling, it was." He shook his head, smiling at me, and chuckling. The bell and we departed, heading to our first period class. "I'll see you later." He nodded.
Zach was no where to be seen the entire day.
When the school had ended, it was pouring outside and I still haven't spot Zach. Lucas was worried and offered to give me a ride, but I denied and said I would wait for Zach. He had given me a small smile, kissing my forehead as he left. I watched as he did, sat down on the concrete steps in from of the school.
I did not wait for long.
After approximately twenty minutes, I began my way home. I walked, droplets pounding onto me, soaking my clothes. I wasn't even a quarter way home before I was completely drenched. I sighed, running my hand through my now curled and frizzy hair. My books will have no recovery if I continue. But I did, for a short time.
