I kissed him back.

I mean, of course I did. I've been waiting for this moment, basically, ever since I met him. It was pretty much everything I expected.

It was perfect.

Then the moment was ruined. He pulled away and looked away, "Sorry." He apologized, like he regretted it - like he didn't mean it. But the case had to be different because I felt that it was the complete opposite throught the kiss. And actually, I was getting fed up with it.

"Why," I snapped, "Why are you apologizing?"

He looked shocked. So shocked that he took a step back, sighed and ran his tanned hand through his messy brown hair. "I don't know," he shook his head. "Maybe you didn't want me to kiss you?"

My eyebrows shot up. Everything I've done should show how much I liked him! How does he get me not liking him from every moment we spent these past months?! Being overcome with determination, I stepped foward, leaned up and kissed him.

His reaction was automatic - putting his arm around my waist and pulling me closer as our lips moved against each other's. Honestly, I don't have much experience in kissing - I've only kissed two other guys. But felt natural, like I didn't need to work, kinda like going with the flow sort of feel.

I was the one to pull away this time. I stepped back and rocked back and forth on the heel of my feet, looking at anywhere but him, while pursing my lips. "I did."

He chortled before kissing me again. I smiled through the kiss, I think he likes me.

He recieved a call that made him panicked and he had to go home. He warned me to stay inside and that he'll be back soon. I didn't get a chance to question what was going on before he gave me a long kiss - that's still lingering - and drove away.

I happily skipped inside the house. As I was about to go up to my room and collasp on my bed in absolute bliss, my mother had caught me and questioned my happiness. Her eyebrow was perked up in question, giving me a suspicious. She leaned against the railing of the stairs. "You look like you just got high." Her posture straightened and her voice became louder. "You're not getting high, are you?"

"No, mom!" I threw my arms up in exasperation.

"Oh," she relaxed, again leaning against the railing, "then what are you so happy about?" I looked down, a smile conquering my face. "It's a boy, isn't it?" I shrugged, swaying. "It's Zach, isn't it?"

I scratched the back of my head. "Now why would you say that?"

She smiled, "because the first time we met him - and drilled him of course - he fessed up that he kind of liked you." My jaw dropped. "And after your father glared at him, we gave him blessing for you two date if you also like him."

"Wait," I closed my eyes, "you knew he liked me this whole time?"

She shrugged, "Yeah, pretty much, but we wanted for both of you to come clean to each other with ought us intervening. And wasn't the way you both found out worth it?"

"Yeah," the smile returned and I jodded happily, "it was."

My mother headed towards the kitchen, "food's almost ready - I'll call you when it is. Your sister is out with Derek."

I nodded, heading up to my original destination. As I closed the door, my phone buzzed with a text. From Zach. I don't think I ever thanked you for the gift. So, thank you for the gift.
