Chapter twenty two: Don't trust anyone

Sophia looked confused at the device, she had no idea what it was

She pressed the little button and the device lit up with red and blue lines and a yellow star in the middle.

"Wait, Carol..." she whispered to herself

She remembered the design, it was on Carol's suit

Wait shit did I just called her to earth for nothing? she thought to herself

~Flashback: The avengers compound 23 days after the blip~

"Auntie Tasha?" Sophia called "Yes sweetheart?"

"Who is this new one? i've never seen her before" "That's Carol Danvers, she's here to help us" "She got powers?"

"Yes she does" Natasha smiled slightly

"Come on, let's go talk to everyone"

Tony was sitting at a table, with an IV in his arm

"What happened to him?" "He's sick sweetie, but he will get better ok?"

Sophia nodded slightly

"It's been 23 days since Thanos came to Earth"

"World governments are in pieces. The parts that are still working are trying to take a census. And it looks like he did... he did exactly what he said he was gonna do. Thanos wiped out fifty percent, of all living creatures"

"Where is he now?"

"We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through"

"We've been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep Space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing. Tony, you fought him"

"Who told you that? I didn't fight him. No, he wiped my face with a planet while the Bleecker Street Magician gave away the store. That's what happened. There was no fight" Tony argued

"Okay"

"She's great, by the way" Tony said pointing at Carol

"We need you. You're new blood. We're bunch of tired old mules"

Tony started to fight with Steve as Carol started to walk away

"Where are you going?" Natasha asked

"To kill Thanos"

"Hey, you know, we usually work as a team here, and between you and I, morale's a little fragile"

"We realize up there is more your territory, but this is our fight too"

Carol looked at Sophia "Hey, what's your name?"

"I- I'm Sophia" "Is she your kid?" she asked Natasha

"No, no she's my god daughter, her parents..." "I see" Carol said turning her attention back to Sophia

"You get me don't you?" Sophia didn't know what to say

"How old are you?" "12"

"You understand me, right Sophia? Thanos took your parents, you want him dead don't you?"

"I-" "Carol she's 12 years old" "No Tasha it's ok, she's right. You're right Carol we need him dead"

"Glad were on the same page kid"

"So let's get him... Use the stones to bring everyone back"

"Even if there's a small chance that we can undo this... I mean we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try"

Carol hasn't taken her eyes off Sophia for a second, she could see Sophia getting upset, she knew something was wrong.

She took a step back, Sophia looked at her as Carol signed her to come next to her.
