|Chapter Two: Getting Some Answers.|

Wednesday.

Olivia.

“Come on Tanner! It’s just a simple question, why can’t you give me an answer?”

Tanner turned to look at her with wide eyes. “You can’t expect me to answer that. I mean that’s just something guys don’t talk to girls about.”

Olivia’s shoulders slumped in disbelief. “But this is for the research paper Tanner. If you don’t answer the question then I’ll fail.”

He let out a sigh and ran a hand through his blonde hair, making it appear adorably messy. “Don’t try to guilt me into this Livvy; I’m not going to answer the question.”

“But—” She started, but Tanner had interrupted.

“No buts Livvy. I’m not doing it.” He sighed again. “I knew I should’ve listened to Charlie when he said you would do this.” He muttered, running a hand through his hair again.

Olivia’s face crumpled into confusion. She thought, What the hell is Tanner talking about? And why is Charlie talking about me? She had no idea what Tanner was talking about. Sure she had asked Charlie the same questions as Tanner, but he hadn’t answered them either. However, she had to give credit to Charlie where credit was due. He hadn’t nearly freaked out as bad as Tanner had.

“Do what? What am I doing?” She asked innocently, he head tilting to the side as a slightly pout formed on her lips.

“The guys all over school are talking about it! I didn’t want to believe it, but here you are,” He said, gesturing to Olivia. “Doing this.”

“This? What are you talking about Tanner? You just gestured to all of me you jerk.”

“You’re asking me stuff that I can’t answer! “ He said ignoring the jerk comment. “Charlie told me that you’ve been hounding every guy around school today asking them that same shit.”

Olivia pouted as she clutched the spiral notebook with the questions scrawled inside to her chest. “Well if someone would just answer my questions then I wouldn’t have to hound anyone. I just don’t understand why it’s so hard to answer a few simple questions.”

“Because they’re like…” He paused, struggling to find the word. His face crumpled into concentration. The word he was looking for was so close, yet so far out of reach at the same time. “Personal!” He finally settled on. “How do you expect me—a guy—to answer, ‘What do guys talk about when girls aren’t around?’, to a girl?! That’s just not something that we generally share with your species.”

She let out an aggravated sigh. “Why can’t you just cave in and answer it along with the other questions? This is for our end of the semester project.”

“Why would you choose guys as your topic? That’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever done.” He said as a way to convince her.

It didn’t work.

Olivia frowned and punched Tanner in the bicep with everything she had. She was highly offended by his little comment. He let out an ‘ow’ and rubbed his arm in pain. Olivia smirked in satisfaction. She wasn’t one to usually use violence, she was more of a pacifist, but in this case violence was well deserved.

“That’s what you get, you jerk.” Tanner threw her a childish glare and stuck his tongue out at her. “Anyway to answer your question, I’ve chosen boys as my topic because it stands out and no one else is going to do it. Everyone is going to have a similar paper. I want mine to be original, to stand out, to scream unique. If I do that then I’m sure to get a seriously badass grade on it.”
