|Chapter Nine: It’s Shower Time!|
Olivia.
After she met Landyn’s group of friends and hung out for a bit, she and Landyn headed back to their dorm. As they walked down the hall they said nothing to each other. Usually Olivia was okay with walking in total silence beside someone, but for some reason with Landyn she felt uncomfortable, awkward, like she needed to say something to fill the void.
She glanced over at Landyn and took in his blank expression. She couldn’t get enough of his flawless features. His looks were really distracting. She cleared her throat and opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupted by Landyn abruptly stopping. She slammed into his back, not prepared for his sudden stop.
She backed up quickly while rubbing her sore nose and muttered a quick apology. Landyn pulled out a copy of his own room key and shoved it into the lock, twisting it before opening the door. He stepped through and flopped himself onto his mattress clad in red and black bed sheets.
She stepped in after him slowly and closed the door behind her. She gathered a few of her belongings together (a pair of sweatpants and an oversized black shirt with Marilyn Monroe on it.) and headed toward the bathroom. She pointed to the bathroom as she walked toward it. “Sooo I’m going to take a shower. BRB dude.”
Landyn nodded slowly with his eyes closed. “Sure man. I’m just going to,” He stifled a yawn. “take a nap before dinner, go ahead.”
Olivia glanced at him one more time before she headed into the bathroom and shut the door behind her. She made a move to lock the door, just to be safe, but the lock wouldn’t click. Her eyebrows knitted together in a mixture of frustration and confusion as she continued to twist the lock on the door. She let out an aggravated sigh as she set her stuff down onto the vanity.
She continued to twist the lock, but it just wouldn’t click into place to lock the door. She finally gave up and opened the door a crack, poking her head out to ask, “Hey Landyn?”
“Hmm?” He murmured.
“Is the lock broken on this door?”
“Mmm…”
Olivia gave him a deadpan expression even though he couldn’t see it. She crept back into the bathroom and shut the door behind her once more. She gulped as she began to peel her clothes off. She just had to hope for the best. Her clothes fell to the floor in a rumpled pile as she stared at herself in the mirror for a moment.
She stood before it with her boy wig on, the Ace bandages wrapped around her breasts and her regular girly underwear, the boxers already discarded on the floor along with the other boy clothes she had been wearing. She frowned as she tugged off the wig, her long hair spilling around her shoulders.
As she began to unravel the Ace bandages she started to wonder if this research paper was really worth her going undercover like this. She still doubted her ability to blend in and doubted that she wouldn’t get caught.
She shook her head. No, stop thinking like that. This is totally worth it. This paper will not only get you the greatest grade possible, but it will hold your place as valedictorian and get you into The New School.
She shoved her underwear and Ace bandages underneath all of her clothes and pushed the pile into one corner. She looked around and shoved her wig underneath her hat that was sitting atop the vanity. Now that all of her tracks were covered she could finally hop into the shower.
She turned on the water and tested the temperature before hopping into the warm water. As she scrubbed at her hair she glared at the fogged up opaque glass of the sliding door. She wished that there was a dark curtain or something to cover her form, but no luck was definitely on her side.
