First day of summer holiday, morning (Sonic's POV)

I think you all will relate to me, when I tell you, that this morning a low groan escaped my lips as I woke up due to hearing my phone annoyingly ringing. I am not some crazy hedgehog, who would set an alarm for holiday though! My phone was ringing for some other reason... a reason named Tails Miles Prower. Yeah, it was simply my best friend calling me at seven in the morning! I mean.. who would like to wake up so early? I whined slightly while barely opening my eyes as I moved my hand all over the nightstand and seconds later finally detected the small annoying device under my fingers, which I instantly wrapped around it firmly and swiping my thumb over the display I picked up the call as I then held the device up to my ear.
"This better be important, Tails," I said in raspy voice and widened my eyes a bit, for it kind of surprised me. My friend's cute giggle echoed in my eardrum shortly before he went silent for a second, then said: "I'm sorry, Sonic. I am calling, because Rouge wants to know, who all will come to her party today." I listened to his words carefully and sat up in the process while tilting my ear curiously to the side.
"Why is she asking you to do that?"
"Well... actually, she just asked me about who all will come, not to call you.. hehe, but since I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable, I decided to call and ask you about it," he explained and I understood it much better now. I smiled softly, even though he could not see it as my eyes traveled over to a window, which was penetrated by a orange-golden rays of rising sun, that got to my room and brightened it to some extent.
"That's actually nice of you, Tails," I managed to say in calm tone as I stood up and walked over to the window to open it and let the fresh morning air in. A various types of birds could be heard singing from out there, probably sitting in the trees or bushes.
"Hehe, yeah... so, will you come?" my fox friend asked me and I raised an eyebrow before frowning slightly while staring out of the window.
"Tails... what kind of question is that...of course I will come, because... I mean, it's a party!" I replied sounding a bit excited, which I was, for I like parties where I can meet people, make friends and enjoy the good atmosphere. I heard Tails giggling to the phone.
"Okay, I will come to pick you up in one hour, is that alright?"
I sighed softly. Not because I would be lying about me wanting to go to the party, but... it seemed to be pretty early for me to go there. But nevermind...
"Sure, bro, I'll get ready then," I replied in a happy tone and hung up as I placed the phone on the nightstand and then moved to my wardrobe, opening it I stared into it for a long five minutes, before grabbing a black tank top with fire guitar printed on it and dark olive short, which I then carried to a bathroom, where I took a quick refreshing morning shower and put those new clothes on. As I did not feel hungry yet, I came back to my room and froze at place! My eyes glued to a certain object laying on the ground next to my bed. I found myself gulping and my heart beating a bit faster as I got nervous and even a bit scared. There it was, the jingle bell, laying on the ground, blankly staring back at me as long as I kept my eyes on it. My eyes widened from a slight fear and shiver went down my spine. I wondered, how could this even happen, when I put it INSIDE THE DRAWER! Not to mention, that the bell is attached to the thick string, meaning that it could not just simply roll anywhere it wanted! Besides, even if it was not attached to the string, it would still make no sense, that it would simply roll out of the drawer by itself! I gulped once again and with despite my slightly whimpering body I moved closer to the thing and bended down to pick it up. I straightened and held it in my hand, examining it carefully I tried to see any clue, that would lead me to the mystery of it, but nothing again. AS ALWAYS! I so much hate not knowing something and being left just wondering and guessing the situation. The next thing, that truly freaked me out, was a doorbell, which made me jump and even slightly yelp. My heart was racing, so I quickly put the jingle bell on the nightstand and swore to myself, that if it ends up on the floor again, I will throw it to trashcan outside my house! I walked over to the main door and opened it to reveal my fox friend standing there with a happy smile on his face. I ran my hand down my quills and tried to act cool as I smiled at him brightly and did not show, how nervous I actually was due to the little incident back in my room.
"Hey, Sonic! Are you ready to go?" he asked me and I nodded before frowning.
"Wait... didn't you say you will come for me in one hour?" I asked a bit confused, he shrugged and smiled sheepishly this time as he placed his hand on the back of his neck.
"Hehe, yes I did.. but I just couldn't wait to see you and I am even more looking forward to be on the party as soon as possible," he explained to me and it made me relax as I chuckled and shook my head before ruffling the fur on his head, earning a soft laugh and gentle push of my hand from him. I retreated my hand and smiling genuinely happy I stepped aside, inviting him into my house.
"You can wait inside, I will just pack a few stuff to my backpack," I offered and he nodded as he happily entered my house. For the first time, needed to say. Since I moved to this town, I never invited anyone inside my house, so now was the time to do so. I closed the main door and walked upstairs to my room, while Tails went to sit in the living room downstairs. I moved my gaze towards the nightstand automatically and let out a sigh of relief, when I saw the jingle bell being there in the same position I left it in. As I stared at it for a long while, I decided to somehow take it with me, or maybe even wear it. I grabbed it and tried to wrap it around my wrist, but it still kept falling, slipping from the grip of my fingers and also the string was too long for my wrist. I sighed and tried to put it on my neck instead and it fit perfectly as I managed to tie it up, not too tightly, around my neck, so now it looked like a kind of choker. I went quickly to the bathroom to check myself out in the mirror. The new choker made me look kinda cute, I must admit. I smiled and left the bathroom as I actually finally packed some things to my backpack in my room and then rushed downstairs to announce Tails, that I am done and ready to go. I found him examining some decorations I had in the living room above my tv and I had to chuckle.
"You seem to like it," I stated, making him slightly flinch as he was too focused on the decorations. He instantly turned to face me and I noticed even a soft blush on his white muzzle, probably from embarassment.
"Uh.. sorry Sonic.. hehe, yeah, it's actually really nice here," he replied nervously and then seemingly noticed the jingle bell tied to my neck as his smile transformed into a curious grin.
"Where did you get this?" he asked me while pointing at it and looking at me in the eyes afterwards he waited for my answer.
"It's.. from my mom, she gave it to me before I moved here," I quickly lied and hoped that it will work well for me.
"Wow... that's actually.. really nice of her. And the thing is... it looks good on you," he replied, his smile finding its way to his face once again. I felt relieved, that he believed me and did not question it any more. Somehow, I felt like... not wanting to tell him the truth, he would maybe get upset or he would at least scold me and tell me, that it is extremely impolite and inappropriate to just take stuff from foreign places. This could be considered a stealing actually. I knew that, but.. I myself don't know, what made me pick it up back in the abandoned house and keep it. I guess I just like it? True point is, that this item looked a bit odd from all the other things there. I mean, everything else in the house seemed to be affected by time, however this jingle bell looked like a recently new. And not to mention, that it appeared out of nowhere mysteriously... it seemed like it happened only for me to notice it. Maybe I was meant to take it.
"Earth to Sonic!" Tails' voice cut off the train of my thoughts as I blinked multiple times before focusing my sight on him.
"Uh.. hehe, sorry buddy," I apologized nervously and he sighed.
"Once again, are you ready to go?" he asked me sounding a bit irritated, I just quickly nodded and dragged him out of my house while locking the main door.
