There is a chasm between the two. A gap he keeps trying to cross to no avail. Every time, he makes the jump, a tide of water reaches up, engulfs him and brings him back to the shore. He tries to lighten the load on him. He attempts to peel this armour off of him. He seeks to demolish this wall around him, preventing him from crossing. But, he just can't.

She can't do anything apart from helplessly watching him. Just wanting to hold out her hand for him but not being able to do that, is an agonizing pain. Though she knows he has to do this himself, it doesn't make it any easier, watching a piece of his spirit break every time it happens.
