~ Jasper~
The tracking lit up on my phone.
A single red dot.
Alive.
Moving.
It worked.
I stared at it for a second longer than necessary, just to be sure it was real.
One of Elizabeth's own security had turned.
Money over loyalty.
Predictable.
People always had a price.
Today, it worked in my favour.
I was already moving.
I had to push myself to leave, I was doing it for Lexi, she needed me, no time for the recluse in me right now.
"Scarlett—now," I said, striding toward the helicopter.
She didn't ask questions.
She never did.
Ten years she'd flown for me—she knew the tone.
Urgent.
Precise.
No room for error.
I climbed in, fastening my belt as the blades began to turn.
The sound filled the air, sharp and relentless.
Good.
It drowned out everything else.
The thoughts.
The memories.
The fear.
Just as the door was about to shut, Lilly appeared.
Of course she did.
"Move," she said, already climbing in.
I grabbed her arm, steadying her as she strapped in.
"Lilly," I said, my voice lower now, more serious, "we don't know what we're walking into."
She met my gaze without hesitation.
"I do," she said calmly. "We're getting that girl back."
A small breath left me.
Not quite a laugh.
But close.
"Then stay close to me," I said.
The helicopter lifted, cutting through the air as Aspen spread out beneath us.
I looked back down at my phone.
The dot was still moving.
Not at the villa anymore.
Further out.
Remote.
Mountains.
My jaw tightened.
Why the mountains?
That wasn't controlled.
That wasn't planned.
That was—
Final.
I immediately messaged Paul.
Location shift. Mountain range east of the villa. Move now.
His reply came seconds later.
On it.
Good.
Everything was moving.
