Chapter 3. Secret Between Student and Mentor

It's been a week since Moonlight's training with Heart started. Heart had happily requested to help Moonlight where she had accepted. To Moonlight's surprise at first, she wasn't aware of Hearts shooting skills. She never missed a single target. That was when she learned about Heart's ability she had heard the two younger teammates talking with Dreamy about it, must have been a competition they had going on or something.

But even with such an ability to hit their mark all the time, it didn't look like she was using it. Many times she had seen Heart showing her the best way of shooting with a bow like she knew how to hold it in the right way. Moon took a bit longer before she finally understood how to hold it in the perfect angle and before she knew it. She hit her first target perfectly. Her eyes looked directly at Heart with the bright light of hope. Heart gave her a smile and clapped her hands, being very proud of her student.

They had been working for a good 3 hours and Heart said it would be better to take a small break before continuing. They sat at the training house, leaning their back on the wall enjoying the warm sunny weather since the temperature was just perfect.

"Um... Heart, may I ask you a question" Came a small voice from Moonlight. Heart who had opened her eyes and looked at Moon who was looking down, having an unsure expression on her face. Heart felt that something may be on her mind. Maybe Dreamy, Amon, and Lis had been going too rough on her was her first guess since she had seen them doing pranks on her.

"Go ahead Moon, what's on your mind?" Heart responded. Moon slowly lifted her head and turned toward Heart. "I don't understand it..." She said, Heart, looked confused at her, not understanding what she meant. Moon saw the confused face, and continued, "Why would someone like me be on an assassination group, when I don't like violence and even... afraid to use my own ability..." she said with the last part almost a whisper.

Heart looked at her with a surprised face. not expecting to hear the last part, but changed her expression back to a calmer down. "Why would you be afraid of using your ability if I may ask?" Heart asked her, looking concerned and worried for her student. Moon removed her eye contact with her mentor and looked at the ground, looking like she was in big thoughts against herself. Heart laid her hand on Moon's shoulder giving a small smile when she looked at her, "you don't have to tell me if you are uncomfortable with it. I'm not forcing you."

Moon looked like she was taken back by those words and shook her head. "I do wanna talk about it, it's just whether I can trust you in it or not," Moon said giving a sad expression. Heart took her hand in front of Moon and pointed her pinky finger out to her. "I promise not to tell anyone, this is between student and mentor" Heart responded with a warm smile. Moon looked at her pinky finger and struggled with her own thoughts for a moment whether or not to trust this girl she had just met a week ago. Though she had heard that Heart always kept her word from Nano. She took the last thought before moving her own pinky finger and locked it together with Hearts.

Moon took a long breath before going into her story. "It's about my family, back when I was 13 and almost turning 14..." she started taking a little break before continuing. "We had a good time back in Mison, we had everything we could ask for". Heart nodded, being more confused as to why she moved to Surora, if she had such a good life. Feeling something must have gone very wrong.

"I didn't get my ability before I was almost 14, a very late time to get your ability... but... " She stopped. Heart noticed she was struggling to keep her tears from coming. Which sent red lights for her. But before she could say she didn't have to continue, she talked. "It was an accident... I didn't mean to... I... I... I killed my parents with my ability when it appeared for the first time..." She finished, putting her knees to her chest placing her head under them, and small sobs could be heard from her.

Heart looked at her, no words could be said at that moment, she was shocked, seeing Moon just sitting there crying. She had to do something. She placed a hand gently on Moon's head patting it. Moon lifted her head and looked at her with a confused expression. Heart could see the tears falling down her face, which made her feel bad. "Normally when Lis was sad and was crying I would always cuddle close to her and pat her head, that normally helped her calm down." Heart said with a small smile. "I'm so sorry to hear about your parents, it must have been hard"

Something clicked in Heart's head out of a sudden and she moved her head to the sky before continuing talking "wanna hear something?" Moon, who still had a confused look, slowly nodded her head. Heart continued "your story reminded me of someone else, who used to be afraid of using her ability as well, because of the exact same reason" Moon looked shocked at what she had said, someone had been feeling the same thing like she had...

Heart looked back at Moon, who was just lost for words, only one question came out of her mouth "Who?" she asked with a weak voice from crying. Heart nodded her head in understanding to learn who this person was.

"You'll be surprised to know, it's Dreamy" she started with a small giggle. Moon looked disbelieving at her. How could someone like Dreamy have been through the same situation as her? she thought to herself Heart continued "Well she's from your team as well, so you could always go ask her for her story" She finished closing her eyes.

Moon who was still in disbelief took the thought about asking herself. Heart had probably also talked to Dreamy about her problems or maybe one of the others. Moon shrugged to herself. Heart stood up and reached out her hand to Moon. "Do not worry Moon. Everyone has their fears and perhaps Dreamy is near to your fear as well. They believe in you, and maybe that is also why Nano chose this path for you, I believe you would do your best no matter what!" She said with a bright smile on her face.

Moon looked up at her face and gave a smile back before taking her hand. Though inside, Moon still felt confused, but she shrugged it off for now. They both went back to training.
