Chapter 12. Nightmares with questions

It's been a week and everyone has gone into their daily routines. The assassins have been taking small tasks around the town helping people out. Rosemary and Heart still had their small breaks just to enjoy a little best friend time. Dreamy is still hanging around either Scootalis and Amon or helping Nano out with whatever she needs. Moonlight on the other hand had been trying to find a perfect time to go to Fel Serin to visit her friend, the elf leader, Yalanna. Meanwhile Nano had continued to train the junior team about magic and how to control it.

After a hard day of working for the two juniors they finally got done with their training and went to their rooms to get their rest. Lis had just put her sketchbook on her desk and went to bed.

When she woke up she wasn't in her bed, but instead she woke up in a forest. She stood up and looked around, to see if she could recognize any of the surroundings. But to her surprise she didn't recall being here before, how did I get here? she thought to herself. She took a deep breath and tried to yell, but not a single word came out of her mouth. She tried again and again but still no sound could be heard. She started to panic, starting to run. Looking for something familiar, looking for someone she knew. Suddenly she saw an opening of the forest and ran straight towards it.

When she was out, she looked around and her eyes widened, she couldn't move out of pure horror. She saw a city that was under attack. People were fighting here and there. People were laying on the ground, unmoving while others were struggling. Lis tried to calm herself down but failed. She started to shake uncontrollably, where am I?! I don't remember this place. Heart where are you!?!?. Suddenly she saw a shadow behind her and she turned her head to see a person... no something else. The person has 2 horns, a weird mark under their crimson red eyes that was just looking down on her. A pair of black wings could be seen behind the person alongside with a wagging tail.

Lis didn't know what to think, she had never seen such a monster before. So she crawled away as fast as she could. But the demon was just walking slowly right behind her. Someone please help me! Anybody... I don't wanna die... big sister! PLEASE! When she finished her thought a white flash came behind her alongside with a forcing wind, pushing Lis away from the creature. Lis suddenly felt she was being held by someone. Wait... Lis quickly opened her eyes and looked at the person holding her. Though the person's face was hidden behind a shadow, so she could not see if she knew them or not. The person looked down on them and smiled at them before letting them down. "Hey there little one. You alright? They didn't hurt you?" she asked with a soft voice and Lis shook her face. The woman smiled and let her down and Lis could get a better look on the woman who had saved her from the other creature. To Lis's surprise the woman looked more familiar to her than she thought, though she couldn't remember fully where. The woman had brown and blond long hair in a ponytail alongside wearing a long brown cape, and a gentle smile. Where have I seen her before she thought... Lis thought to herself, though something caught her eyes, behind the woman was a pair of wings and above her was a halo floating. What in the world was this woman?

The woman looked at the smaller girl and gave a worried smile "You better get away from here in a hurry, I can not take seeing a girl this young lose their life... So please run away" she said and Lis nodded her head, the woman smiled in response and laid her hand on the smaller one's head giving it a small pet "You do remind me of my own child back home now hurry up" she finished turned around getting ready running back to the ruins of a city. But before Lis could run away herself she was stunned in horror. Not long after the woman had taken off, a flying sword was flown into her leg and she collapsed to the ground. Lis tried to run towards her but like before she was stuck where she stood, not being able to move. The person that had thrown the sword walked towards the fallen woman with a wide smirk on his face, getting another sword ready to strike again. The man looked like the same creature that had tried to attack her earlier, how many of these things are there? The woman had thrown the other sword away and was trying to stand up again but clearly had problems with keeping her balance.

Lis was trying her best to move with all her might but whatever she tried had no effect. Even trying to speak still didn't work, so she just tried to look away. Please don't hurt her, please, not like this! Please stop, leave her alone! she wanted to scream but no sound came out of her. The creature raised his sword ready to end the poor woman's life, before everything turned black.

"PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!" Lis opened her eyes and quickly sat up in her bed panting heavily. She looked around her room, she looked down and felt something running down her face, she let her hand rub her cheek and realized she was crying. "...a.. nightmare..." she gave a sigh, but it felt like it happened. She looked outside and noticed it was still night. She was still shaken so she stood up from her bed, and walked out of her room and out of her and her teammates Amon's house. She looked up at the stars before walking into another house, not hers. She went up the stairs and walked towards a familiar door she used to walk in a lot when she was younger. She gently knocked on the door. and a little moment went before the door opened. Revealing her sister Heart standing with a concerned expression. "Lis? What are you doing here in the middle of th-" before she could finish her question Lis went straight to hugging her older sister, wanting to feel a warm embrace, feeling safe. Heart was quiet for a short moment, surprised by her sister's act, feeling her shaking and her concern turned more worried. She hugged her younger sister and let her in her room. Lis sat on the warm bed looking down. Heart had gone down stairs to get her a glass of water. When she came back she gave the glass to her Lis and sat down on the chair.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Lis nodded her head drinking the water "You haven't had one of those in a long time" another nod came from the younger one. She laid the glass on the bed table and finally looked at her sister. "I saw a war, people with horns and people with wings" she started. Heart nodded her head beginning to understand. "What you saw in that dream was two mythical creatures, demons are the ones with horns and the one with wings are angels." Heart started and stood up walking to her shelf taking an old book out. "Demon and angels have always been great rivals of each other so seeing them fighting would not be surprising" she showed her sister a page that confirmed that information. Lis nodded her head before another thought came "I also met a woman or angel I suppose now who saved me from a demon. She seemed so familiar but I could not remember where and I could not see her face" she said while Heart had put the book back on the shelf "Oh? What did the angel look like? Maybe I might help" She smiled at her sister. Lis made a humming sound remembering how she looked. "She was a pretty woman, with brown and blonde hair that was kinda blended together and was in a ponytail." she started and continued with her description. When she finished she looked at her older sister who had a surprised look on her face, which made Lis get a questionable look on her face "Did I say something wrong?" she asked and this woke Heart up from her thoughts. She gave a smile and shook her head "No you didn't, but the woman you described sounded just like our mom" she said and Lis mouth dropped "Y-You I saw mom in a dream! but why did she have wings?" she asked which Heart only shrugged her shoulders not knowing the answer herself.

The two talked more about the dream, coming to the conclusion that it was late and they both went to sleep cuddling each other in Hearts bed. Lis felt much better and safer with her sister so she felt directly asleep. Heart on the other hand was deep in her thoughts about the dream. Lis saw their mother, and some demon attacked her and was getting ready to kill her. Could this be a vision about her death? Heart gave a small sigh Looks like it's official. I have to go to Aleby to get some answers, she thought to herself before letting sleep take over.
