We walked into my room. Our faces smeared with ash and our clothes covered in debris and dirt. I walked over to the window and closed the curtains. The sun had long set now and I wasn't in the mood to appreciate the moon's glow. Wanda walked into the bathroom and lightly turned the sink faucet. At first she just watched the water run. As if she had spaced out into her thoughts but she cupped her hands under the running water and brought it to her face. Little by little, washing away the ash on her no long rosy cheeks. I went through my draws pulling out fresh clothes for us both while also taking the weapons off my belt and hiding them between the contents of my draws.

I placed the clothes onto the bed and walked into the bathroom to join Wanda in washing my face. I glanced up to see her staring back at me through the mirror. She opened her mouth to say something but only a whisper came out. I gave her a confused look and she dropped her head before repeating.

"You're not wearing your contacts," she said just loud enough for me to hear her. I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed why she was bringing it up.

"I guess I didn't have time to put them in," I answered in the same voice level. "sorry."

"Don't be," she paused and looked up at me but not through the mirror this time. "you have every right to be angry with me."

"I'm not," I shook my head and let out a sigh. "I'm not angry."

"But-"

"My eyes can lie too."

We went silent for a few minutes and I continued to wash my face as much as I could.

"I think we're better off just taking showers," I said shutting off the faucet and walking back into my room. Wanda followed slowly behind and sat my the bed while I looked for the draw with my towels. A soft sniffle sounded from behind me and I slowly turned around. She was wiping her eyes and her chest was quickly rising and falling. I walked over to her side and took a kneel. "Hey."

"I'm sorry," she piped. "I'm so sorry."

"I know, I know. But you don't need to be. It's okay." I placed one hand on her cheek and she melted into my touch.

"I thought we could do it, I though we could handle it," Silent tears started to stream down her face as she talked.

"Hey, the good thing is, no one got hurt."

"But they could have," she said closing her eyes and letting out a shaky breath. "I know it wasn't my call but I should have known. I shou-"

"Stop. Please," my voice let out a small crack which caused her to open her eyes. "please, just for tonight can-can we just...not...can we just have a nice night and-and talk about this tomorrow?"

She looked down at her hands as she fidgeted with her thumbs. "Yeah, that-that would be nice," she sniffled out. I gave her a small nod before standing up. I placed a small kiss on her forehead and walked into the bathroom to get the shower going. I walked back into the room to grab a towel and clean clothes. Then went back to the bathroom and slowly shut the door.

"Fuck," I said in a broken murmur.

I stripped off my suit wincing at the slight shoot of pain up my back but continuing nonetheless. With one step I was in the shower and the warm water washed over me like a wave of comfort. The water traveled down my back clear but washed down the drain red. I let out slight whimper at the pain but made sure not to be too loud. Wanda had enough going on in her head, I didn't want to add.

The shower is a strange place. You're mind kind of spins. No one knows why. Maybe because it brings a sense of peace, so much so that we don't know how to handle it so our mind tries to balance things out. So, it manifests old memories or makes us think deeper about things that really shouldn't be thought of.

Today, though, it was just flashes of images. As if my brain had taken screenshots throughout the events of today. Somehow it brought more effect than if they were to play out. When it's just a picture you can analyze the scene better. You can look for other options things you could've- should've done.

You can ask what's the point and honestly you won't get an answer. Except, it's just who we are. It's what we do. We dwell on the past and overthink things and claim things right or wrong but in the end none of it matters. In the end the outcome is the same.

And suddenly I was taken aback by the piercing ice cold feeling that sent shivers and goosebumps through my body. I shut off the water and stepped out, without realizing there was water on the floor outside the shower. I slipped and fell hard on my back making me let out a fairly loud grunt of pain as I hit the cold hard tiled floor.

Within the second blood was covering the floor as it had seemed the impact caused my already bad wound to become even worse. Before I had time to get up, Wanda rushed through the door. The first look of panic that filled her expression, quickly turned to horror.

"Oh my god, y/n! What happened?" She pried as she tried to help me sit up. But I wouldn't budge.

"No, no. Don't move me." I insisted.

"What happened?"

"Nothing," I assured her. "Nothing, I just fell."

"Fell?" she asked, not believing a word coming out of my mouth. "Yeah, okay. I'm getting Natasha."

"Wait, wait. Wait, don't do that. We don't need to tell anyone."

"Y/n! The entire bathroom floor is covered in blood and you can't even move!" she said a little too loud.

"What in the hell happened?!" a voice shrieked from the doorway of the bathroom.

"Nothing!" I yelled and tried to sit up but was immediately forced down by the pain.

"She probably got hurt trying to save us." Wanda said. Her voice was steady and worried but I could tell there was a hint of hate behind them. But not towards me.

Natasha knelt down next to me and tried to move me so she could get a good look at the wound. She told Wanda to go get her a med kit while she tried to patch me up until then.
