It was a few months since anything strange or bad happened. No sign of the person in the mask or anything Avenger worthy. Anything except a press conference. We had been spotted on the few mission we did have and the press is freaking out about the "New Mystery Avenger".

"Do we really have to do this?" I asked as I played with the zipper of my suit anxiously.

"Yes, plus it's not just you we're introducing. We haven't officially made Wanda and Sam  Avengers so with the press conference we can kill three birds with one stone." Tony said and grabbed my hand to stop me from playing with my zipper. "Now, where's the voice modifier I wanna check it before we go out there."

"Right, uh...here," I said and pulled a little device out of my pocket and gave it to him. He carefully attached it to the side of my mask and I put it on.

"What do I- oh wow that sounds weird." I said as a voice that was not my own played my words. It was deep and creepy like the kind hackers use when they wanna make a statement without being recognized. "You sure this won't just scare people away?"

"Probably but you're the one who doesn't want to be recognized so, this is the best we got." Tony said.

"Hey, you guys ready?" Natasha's voice traveled through the closed door of the conference room Tony and I had gone into to talk in private. Although I always had my dad to go to for advice, Tony was always like a second dad to me. He always told me to do the opposite of what my dad said and usually it all went bad but he helped me with my anxiety and even if it didn't seem like he did, he got me through my dad's death.

Tony walked over to the door and opened it revealing the rest of the Avengers, minus Thor.

"You okay, y/n?" Wanda asked snapping me out if thought.

"Yeah, just nerves." I said.

"Wow, that voice really is creepy." Wanda said causing everyone to laugh. "Here," she held out her hand and I took it. As we walked closer and closer to the door my anxiety grew. But it was too late to turn back, the door flung open and we were on our way onto the stage. I felt my chest tighten as I saw the hundreds of people who had packed together into the small room. White flashes filling the rooms as the giant cameras captured our every movement. The room erupted into a roar of cheers and questions and suddenly I couldn't breath.

Wanda noticed and she squeezed my hand to assure me everything was alright. But that wasn't enough. Keeping out hands intertwined I wrapped my free arm around  hers that held my hand like a child does with their parent when they're scared. I was shorter than he so I could hide myself partially behind her shoulder even though my entire face was covered but my mask and glasses.

And suddenly it was starting. "Hello everyone, thank you for coming. Now you know who we are, you've known us for the past few years now, some of us even longer."

"Yeahs like everyone's known about you for the past 70 years, capsicle." Tony joked as he draped an arm over Steve's shoulder. Steve was much taller than Tony so such a gesture called for Tony to go on his tiptoes.

"Tony-"

"Oh come on, you know you love me." Tony said. This caused Steve to turn bright red and us to to laugh. Although the audience seemed quite confused and started asking a lot of questions.

"Okay, okay. Enough of the flirting, boys." Natasha cut in. "Recently, we've had some new editions to not only our team," she glanced over at Wanda. "But our family as well." She gave a wink before turning back to the crowd. "So today, we are here to officially announce your newest Avengers."

This is where Tony cut in again, "Wanda Maximoff, Sam Wilson and though I hate to say it...Hyperflex."

Since he couldn't see my face I tried to glare at him through body language but I think it showed off more as "I'm gonna kill you" which honestly had the same effect because he put his hands up and backed away from the mic.

"Thank you Tony, for you amazing commentary." Clint said. "I think it's time to start taking questions." He looked around to make sure everyone agreed.

"You okay?" Wanda asked as Sam took the first question. I didn't want to talk so I just nodded my head. I zoned out through the next set of questions until one landed upon me.

"Hyperflex, right?" A reporter asked and I nodded my head. "What's with the ailis and the costume? I mean what's the point in keeping your identity a secret?"

"Um," the reporter stepped back a bit at the sound of the voice. "Sorry, voice modifier. Creepy, I know. But I'm just...I'm not ready for people to know who I am yet. Maybe if circumstances were different."

"What do you mean by circumstances?" The reporter etched.

"I... can't tell you that. Too much risk."

"But-"

"Okay, next question." Tony said calling on someone else. Wanda squeezed my hand and gave me a reassuring look.

"Is there a bidding teenage romance between Wanda and this mysterious new Avenger?" The reporter Tiny had called on asked. This is one time I was extra thankful for my mask because the heat sensation in my cheeks suggested I was probably as red as a tomato, I know Wanda was as she sheepishly looked to the ground.

"Yeah, girls! Tell us! Is there a budding romance between kidnapper and victim?" A male voice rang through the room causing everyone to go silent. He was away from the crowd and leaning on one of the pillars between the glass windows. He was oddly familiar, his face covered in scars, his eyes gray although you could barely see them through his pitch black hair that loosely laid over them. He didn't look much older than me. He wore a long black trenchcoat with black jeans and black boots. And as creepy as he was he felt familiar.

"Sorry, do we know you?" Tony asked.

"No. Well, you don't. But she does." He said and looked directly at me. I tilted my head in confusion and let go of Wanda starting to walk towards him.

"Who are you?" I asked stepping off the stage.

"Wow. I'm hurt, little sister." I was taken aback by the comment. I stopped walking towards him but he started over to me.

"I'm an only child." I said the voice modifier blocking the way my voice waivered.

"You truly have forgotten haven't you?" he said and sighed. "Well, no worries. Let me help you remember." Suddenly there was a pressure closing in on my head. My eyes squeezed shut as the uncomfortable feeling turned to pain but it came to a sudden stop. When I opened my eyes a red glow held the boy against the pilar he once leaned on.

I hadn't realized that I was on my knees until I was lifted up by Tony. The crowd had seemed to disappear in seconds, sacred of what was next to happened. My vision started to go gray and everything turned into a blur.

"Hey, hey! Y/n, y/n! Look at me! Look at me!" Tony said in a louder than normal voice but as my head pounded it sounded more like he was screaming. I felt my body turn limp and the room went dark.
