Y/n POV
We walk in silence till we are halfway home.
"Why did you do that." You say still looking down at your feet.
"You looked uncomfortable he was clearly bothering you."
"I can take care of myself you know." You say finally looking up at him.
"Yes, but you don't always need to."
A feeling of warmth overtakes me.
"Thank you." Your words were soft and sweet as tears ran down your cheeks.
"For what? I didn't do anything thing." He said hugging you and rubbing your back reassuringly.
"All my life I haven't been allowed to be myself, be vulnerable, soft, weak. But with you, you stood up for me and recognized me as a human being and not a toy you can just play with and move around to your heart's content. My dad was mad when I got sorted into Hufflepuff. He thought he could change me and make me suppress my true thoughts and nature. With you, I can be myself, be free. It's nice to know I have a friend so thank you."
I wish I could freeze time and stay in this moment forever. As much as anything this is hard for me. I wish I could just tell him how I really feel.
