The cafe was unusually busy Sunday

morning as you sat at the table by the window with a perfect view of the counter and dining area.

The murmur of low conversations competed to be heard over coffee beans being grounded and employees yelling orders at one another.

You've yet to indulge in any of their delicious pastries. Solely because you were too distracted to do so.

Be it as it may, you might've looked somewhat okay on the outside, but on the inside, you were, for lack of better term, freaking out.

You were running through the exact words you'd say to Jungkook once he'd arrived. Rehearsing the dialogue and predicting how he'd respond.

Was it over-the-top? Perhaps. Did that stop you? Certainly not.

Though, you tried not to think about it for the first couple of minutes, concentrating on the faint music playing in the background of the cafe. That, and the fact that you showed up far too early.

However, all your thoughts and notions vanished when the front door of the eatery opened, revealing Jungkook in tight black jeans paired with a white dress shirt, the first few buttons undone.

In a smooth measure, his eyes met yours, held them, and said a thousand things words could never prescribe. Then, he cleared the threshold, every nerve in your body screaming for him.

The closer the proximity had become... the faster and faster your heart began beating. On and on and on... with no end.

All until the very moment when he appeared right in front of you, his expression gentle and voice low as he spoke, "I know I'm a little early. May I sit?"

Breaking out of your trance, you gave a small smile accompanied by a nod, allowing him to take the seat across from yours.

"Thank you."

He was always so nice, so polite. At times, you wondered why he'd go for someone as simple as you when he himself was in a supreme league of his own. Surely he was aware of that fact too.

"So, how have you been doing?"

You gazed down at your fingers for a brief second. "I'm good. Great, actually."

"Happy to hear it." You couldn't help but admire the genuinity in his tone. He truly was happy for you. "Your work has been excellent as usual. Suffice to say, that doesn't come as much of a surprise, knowing you."

You stared at him, your eyes brightening at his words of appraisal, the corners of your lips shifting upwards uncontrollably.

He appeared flustered for a moment before clearing his throat. "I must admit, I'm surprised you contacted me." At this, you furrowed your brows. "What's so surprising about it?"

"I just didn't expect that you would. I know that you had a choice to make, but it wasn't a necessity. You could've graduated without telling me anything and i would've been fine with it. Because, in the end, it's what you wanted." Silence followed as you took in what he'd just said.

"The school year ends in a couple of weeks. Is that why you chose now to have this conversation?"

You pursed your lips.

He took this as a sign to continue.

"At least there'll be some closure by the end of it, I assume."
