Four months.

It was four months down the road when the thread holding yourself together suddenly snapped, broke apart without giving you so much as a warning, bringing you to the abrupt realization that the building blocks you'd once relied upon in order to save yourself from hopelessly drowning.... never truly prevailed.

That being the case if they had ever truly been there, to begin with. But you overlooked such possible outcomes, and for reasons beyond sound judgement.

Because you'd found someone who enjoyed your company as much as you did theirs.

Someone who cared little about the flaws you unveiled, deeming them to be perfect.

Someone who taught you to express your love rather than conceal it.

Someone who made you want to believe that your love story could, by some miracle, be immortal.

It went without saying that when you found someone of that calibre, you'd lay it all on the line for them.

That was how love worked, from what you understood.

It was a series of emotional phases that'd pass rapidly from one aspect of feeling to another.

It'd begin light at first. The initial meeting, first dates, attraction and all.

Then came stage two. Infatuation. Curiosity. The borderline settling between no strings or attached.

Settling with the latter led to stage three. Becoming a couple. Making it official.

And one year down the road, you're left wondering if it's bound to become something more.

From then on, it becomes a constant scheme of inquiry set in order to find 'the one'.

An interrogation with your own mind, as if the foe is none other than your train of thought.

Does he want me the way I want him?

Will he ever ask for my hand?

Does he want any kids? If so, how many?

Are we moving too fast?

All questions, no answers.

And so, while aware of these 'relationship stages', you reminded yourself not to get too carried away. Or, at the very least, to a fault.

You were to allow your love to flourish on its own, no matter how long it may take to do so without a heartened push.

You were happy after all. Content— knowing you weren't exactly alone in this.

But... perhaps that was where you went wrong. You'd gotten too attached too quickly, too reliant when it hadn't counted.

So much so that you'd forgotten the other varying factors of your life that once weighed just as heavily as the others.

Alas, leading to an argument.

In that very moment, it seemed to be all but a measly blur. The denial, the yelling, the guilt and realization.

Then, you were met with a stunning silence.

The silence that spoke more volume than your words ever had, meaningless or not, given credence or not.

But you'd pushed beyond one another's comfort zone, resisting to his aide and solace, despite how much you truly sought for it.

All the while, he turned a blind eye to his mistakes, rendered unsighted by his responsibilities and expectations.
