You rounded a corner and came face to face with another statue, and went to turn around but another had appeared behind you. You glanced quickly between them, trying to find an escape. Then you had an idea. You looked at the hedges making up the maze and you leaped onto it, grabbing hold, and started climbing like you never had before. As you pulled yourself up, you felt one of them grab your ankle, dragging you back down. You looked back at it to freeze it but quickly looked away again. They were shirtless.
Unfortunately, you had to look at them to free your ankle.
sigh.
"What in the FUCK-SHIT" You barked as you wrenched your ankle away, nearly spraining it.
Pulling yourself up, you stood on top of the hedge and glared at them. If looks could kill, they'd definitely be dead by now. However, they were already dead. And made out of gold so....
"Well don't just stand there. Those soul shards won't collect themselves you know!"
Right.
You had a job.
You ran across and jumped down, almost getting skewered by a trap in the process, and took a left, which left you somewhere in the middle of this hellhole. You took out your tablet and continued looking for the soul shards. It became a routine, and eventually, you got to the last soul shard. You got the last soul shard and made your way to the exit up ahead. As soon as the doors closed behind you, you let out a sigh of relief. That was harder than you'd expected.
After getting your breath back, you looked up. You were standing in front of a very impressive manor.
"How nostalgic. I used to have a manor like this. Much bigger of course."
You rolled your eyes as you stepped inside. Looking at your tablet, you could see the amount of soul shards you had to collect for each area, and this one was pretty big, so there was probably a lot to collect.
Anyways, you ran around collecting the soul shards, dodging those asshole statues, etc. etc. and it was time to get the ring piece and dash. You made your way back to the entrance, where the ring piece was being kept, noticing that there were four more statues placed around it as guards.
'Well, Malak's gonna have to do better than that if he wants to stop me'
You slipped around them and grabbed the ring piece off the altar, and made a break for the exit. Once outside, you tried the door to the maze, but it was locked. You considered climbing the hedges again, but you didn't have enough time. More statues were coming from the left, so you went right. You ran down the pathway, avoiding statues that seemed to appear out of nowhere in the fog.
You ran through the forecourt back through the doors of which you entered. You sprinted with what little strength you had in your legs towards the portal.
You could just see it in the distance through the fog.
'The portal'
'So close... Almost there-'
Something barreled into you from behind, knocking you flat on the ground. Dazed, you sat there for barely a minute, trying to process what happened when that something was on you again. You could hardly breathe. Your mind began to race.
'No. Not like this.'
You struggled feebly, your muscles aching. Soon, you went limp, and your vision receded.
