Helen Bierce was once known as the actress no one wanted, the diamond in the rough. But how is it that she came to be? How did she become a star overnight?

She owed it all to Victor. A strange man she had met at a party she went to with her husband. He was the one who taught her about Malak and how to summon him, so maybe she should be angry at him. But he wasn't here. Malak, however, was here, and that was the problem. She summoned him one night, after curiosity overcame apprehension. She had tried everything at that point— She advertised herself (in more ways than one), tried to buy her way in with her husband's money, and sucked up to the point she was up every one of their asses. But it wasn't enough. It was never enough, and it would never be enough.

The stupid agencies couldn't recognize talent if it slapped them in the face. (Funnily enough, she did slap an agent in the face, but that's a story for another day.) So she summoned him in a last attempt at fame. She didn't know if he would respond, but he did. And he helped her get the fame that she so deserved. The very next day, all the agencies that turned her away and shunned her or humiliated her came crawling back, filling her mailbox. They pleaded for her to come and perform with them. She rejected a few that she didn't like, and accepted a few more. The rest she just ignored, despite them writing letters to her every day until they finally gave up. For 7 years, she starred in movies, plays, operas, and shows as a renowned actress. She quickly gained a fanbase, and every day, her mailbox overflowed with letters from her adoring fans. She also got hate mail, but she didn't pay attention to those losers who wrote them. They reminded her of the agencies before she made a deal with Malak, and how they treated her.

When her 7 years were up, Malak came for her soul. But, she fled. She had long been preparing for his return, and had endlessly researched ways to get rid of him. She wasn't done yet. She had found the answer at last, and now it was time to get it. But, she couldn't do it– oh no. She needed guinea pigs, little minions to do her bidding for her so she wouldn't have to get her hands dirty. So she started recruiting lost souls– people who were awaiting their judgment, forever damned to purgatory. These lost souls usually had a regret or a wish they'd never fulfilled when they were still alive. It was these souls she used to get the ring pieces. She'd tell them that she would grant them their greatest wish if they got her all the ring pieces. They would get around halfway before falling, but every once in a while, they impressed her. Y/n was not one of them.

They were a conflicted soul, and didn't know what they wanted. They wanted everything, and nothing at the same time. They constantly thought about the things they could've done differently, but never acted upon those stirrings.

So Bierce didn't expect anything from them. The reason she recruited those specific souls was that their desire fueled them, and the desire that comes from regret or loss is strong. It would drive them to the finish no matter what came their way. So when y/n found their way into her ballroom, she couldn't turn them away. It had been a long time since the last soul came her way, and she was getting bored. Just for fun, she thought. Oh, had she known that they would become her enemy, she would've turned them away. They seemed to have found their place at Malak's side, which was terribly inconvenient for her, but oh well. She would just get rid of them alongside him and his cronies. But first, she had to find a way out of this pocket dimension.

When she used the ring piece that was bonded to her soul to free herself, she had run back to the house and hid in a closet. Checking the hall she was in, she saw that there were no Trigger Teddies. Slowly, she pushed the door open, and snuck towards the living room. She crept along the back wall, out of sight from the Trigger Teddies guarding the living room. She needed to distract them, cause a diversion just like in those movies she acted in. She summoned the ring's power, and manifested a few small soul shards. They hovered in the air menacingly, before zooming down a hallway across from her. The Trigger Teddies immediately snapped to attention, and swarmed to chase it, thundering down the hallway. The living room was empty now, save for Bierce. She ran out the door and into the woods.

'They'll be pretty busy for a long time.' She thought when she stopped in a small clearing. Exhaling, she put her hands in front of her, palms facing away from her. 'Now to work on the exit.' Summoning as much power as she could from the ring piece, she focused on the place she wanted the portal to lead to. A small red flare appeared in midair and began to swirl, getting bigger. After a few seconds, it was as big as a dinner plate, red on the outside with black smoke inside the circle. When it finished growing, the symbols representing the location formed from the same red smoke.ter a few seconds it was as big as a dinner plate, red on the outside with black smoke inside the circle. When it finished growing, the symbols representing the location formed from the same red smoke.

In the darkness, she walked through the portal, arriving back in her ballroom. Smiling, she closed the portal.

'Home sweet home.'
