Once every other week, you would go with Malak to his realm, and you would tell him about your experiences with Bierce. One week passed. Then another. Then four weeks. And suddenly it's been almost two months since you arrived at the manor. Everything in the past seemed so far away, just a blur of time.
One day, you awoke as usual. You got ready, as you normally did, and got breakfast with the others. Or that's what you were going to do, but right there in the middle of the living room, standing smugly in front of you, was none other than Malak.
You froze, not knowing what to do. "Uh, hi? What are you doing in the middle of our living room? Odd time for another meeting, but okay. Just let me get breakfast first-"
He cut you off abruptly. "No need. This is our final meeting together. I have all the information I need from you, so you are useless to me now. "Taken aback, you didn't know how to respond to that. "So...what're you gonna do with me now? Kill me?" You replied, raising an eyebrow.
"No. I'm not going to kill you. They will." And with a snap of his fingers, Micheal, Felix and Chauncey were standing beside him.
Their faces were a mixture of sorrow, regret and anguish. Shocked, your eyes widened at the sight. As the realization came to you, your heart dropped. You looked down. You couldn't meet their eyes. Before you could look up, you were teleported to the gate outside the hedge maze and forced onto your knees. You just continued to hang your head. You wanted to fight, to scream and howl at the sky, but you couldn't. All you could do was stare mutely at the grass below you. Hearing slow footsteps, you closed your eyes. You thought you heard someone say something, but the rushing of air as the ax came down on your neck drowned it out.
You felt the blood pour and pour for about 10 seconds. Then consciousness fled.
It felt like a dreamless sleep. You couldn't think, hear, see or feel anything. You didn't have a physical form anymore; you were free. You were just.... There. Just floating in a dark abyss. You didn't know how long you drifted along; you didn't care. It could've been hours, maybe years. Time was irrelevant.
All of a sudden, an electrical current shot through you like a bullet. Jolted, you flickered. You began to hear voices, familiar voices, wavering and distorted, so you couldn't catch what they were saying. You frowned. Wait. How were you frowning? How were you hearing things? What was happening to you? Then you felt another electrical current, albeit weaker. You struggled with yourself, trying to hold onto the peaceful black abyss you were drifting in and out of. Then you were jolted one last time, your consciousness returning.
You opened your eyes a bit. Your sight was blurry and the lights were just a little too bright. You waited a moment, blinking rapidly to focus your eyes and get them adjusted. When you could fully open your eyes, you wearily sat up. 'Where am I? What just happened? Am I still dead?' You looked around, attempting to stand up. Your legs buckled, and you fell back down. 'Guess my body needs a moment to recuperate from being dead or whatever that was.' You thought idly.
Your brain didn't register where you were at first, but as everything came back, you realized you were back in your bedroom. It was dark and everything was silent.
'Where are the others?'
