When you got there, everyone else was already eating. Micheal was sitting on the couch, and Felix, the ginger, sat next to him while he braided Chauncey's long blonde hair. You got some food and sat down on a chair. You would've been thinking how you could escape, as you usually did, but your brain needed a break. You would probably ask one of them if you could go outside to decompress later. Chewing slowly, you began to zone out. You snapped out of it when Chauncey asked you a question.

"Are you okay?" He looked genuinely concerned. "You look really tired."

"I am," you replied. "But I'm fine, don't worry about it."

Micheal scoffed. "You did nothing all day, and you're tired? Unbelievable."

"And what did you do today besides shit on everyone else?" You countered.

Of course, he didn't have a response.

Felix chuckled. "Micheal, buddy, you gotta stop picking fights with people. One day you're gonna end up with an axe to the face again."

He stiffened. "Don't mention that in front of the human."

"Why? What happened? What did he do?" You asked, your curiosity piqued.

Felix slapped his hands together and rubbed them. "Oh boy, do I have a story to tell. This took place when Micheal first arrived. Chauncey wasn't here yet," He explained. "Anyways, it's a new day, and everything is the same as it has been the last hundred years. We catch the human and kill em' you know how it goes. And after we did our job, Malak shows up unexpectedly. We were surprised, we weren't expecting him. He was disappointed I guess, that we killed them; probably wanted to interrogate them like you. And Micheal over here began talking back and arguing with Malak. Malak didn't like that, and well, things escalated. He picked up one of our axes and swung it right into his face, leaving it a shattered mess. He left him like that for a while, before returning to heal him."

"Wow." Eyes wide, you looked at Micheal. "I knew you were arrogant, but I didn't know you were that arrogant." A smirk tugged at the corners of your lips..

"Yeah, Malak had to put him in his place multiple times after more...unsavory behavior," Chauncey explained.

"Hah, not much has changed!" Felix laughed as a scowl appeared on Micheal's face. "You guys suck. I hate y'all." He muttered.

As dinner began to end, you put away your plate and decided now or never. "Can one of you guys come with me outside?" You asked, looking at each in turn.

"I'm sorry I can't." Chauncey shrugged. "I gotta fix some uniforms for the others."

Felix got up to leave. "I have a... thing." He gestured his thumb back towards the hall, grinning sheepishly. "So I'll see y'all later. Bye!" And he scurried off down the hall.

You turned to Micheal. Before you could even utter the words, he cut you off. "No." Dejected, you slumped slightly, but tried your hardest to maintain your composure. "Okay. Good night guys." And you walked back to your room, flopping on your bed yet again. You didn't even want to escape now. How could you? All you wanted was some peace and quiet outside. Climbing onto your bed, you slipped into a fitful sleep, turning and tossing nonstop. Finally, you decided to just sleep on the floor.
