Summer Love

Chapter 10

Riley's POV

We all load back into the trailer, this time with 4 more guests: Grandma, Grandpa, Mr. Feeny, and Eric. Josh has to finish up some college prep tests and things, so he's staying in Philly with his friend.

I can't wait to see Aunt Morgan. She's my dad's younger sister, about 7 years younger I think. And it'll be great for her, my dad, and Uncle Eric to reunite.

Right now, I'm sitting on my bed, looking out the window as tree after tree after tree passes outside. Farkle is working on some big project of his, typing furiously into his laptop. Maya is singing, and Lucas is watching her. I'm bored.

I see Ava and Auggie, hand in hand, going to talk to my dad. I sigh.

Soon they both come out, smiling. "Daddy says only 20 minutes!" Auggie tells me.

"Thanks, little brother," I reply. He grins. Ava pulls him away.

I go to check on Maya and Lucas. I press my ear to the door and hear Maya singing.

"I've loved you for a thousand years," she sings. I can't see them, but I know Lucas is smiling.

I smile too.

I turn around, bumping into Farke.

"Lady," he says, flipping his hair.

"Farkle!" I reply happily.

He stops, listening to Maya sing. "She's got a beautiful voice," he says, turning to me.

My face gets warm. "Yeah, she does," I whisper. Am I getting jealous?

"What's wrong, Riley?" he asks, concerned.

"Nothing," I lie. "I'm just tired."

He looks at me suspiciously, and nods silently. I can tell he doesn't believe me.

The trailer stops moving, and Ms. Hart comes towards us. "Riley, Farkle, time to get a move on, we're at Morgan's house!" She stares at us for awhile, then asks. "Where's Maya?"

Farkle and I glance at each other, then the room, then Maya's mom, then back at each other again.

"Um, I don't know?" Farkle says. But Ms. Hart is eyeing the bedroom.

"I do." we hear Maya say, her voice muffled by the door.

"Finally, you admit it," a male voice says. Ms. Hart's jaw drops.

She bangs through the door, to find Lucas and Maya leaning in. "Step away from my daughter!" She yells.

Lucas looks up just in time to move out of the way as Ms. Hart leaps at him.
