"Where are you going young lady?" My Dad's voice stop's me in my tracks.
Damn.
I face him with the biggest fake smile I could ever master.
Very soon I will have to tell him!
"Hi Dad. You're back from work early today."
He walks to me, his face firm and curious.
"Where do you go so determined everyday? You don't take lunch with your mother and brother or dinner with the whole family."
I glare at him. Sure he had forgotten all about Mom but giving her name to Natasha still hurt me.
"She's not my mother."
He clenches his jaws. "We're not going to have this conversation today Jessica Breanna Shirley." Him using my middle name could mean so many things.
Anger being the dominant one.
"Dad please."
"Are you having sex?"
"What?" I gasp shocked. "N..No! I promise. Eeeuw."
He looks at me in the eyes for a lot of seconds and I stay rooted at my spot.
Really sex?
"Breanna!" He warns.
"I swear Dad. Why would you think such a thing."
Maybe I have kissed a boy and hung out with the other but sex has never crossed my mind.
Why was it so embarrassing being asked this?
"I just want you to be careful my dear. It's not a bad thing...."
I stop him right there.
"Woah, woah, Woah... Please Dad!"
"Come back home before dinner today!" He says.
I nod and walk away from the house. He watches me leave and I walk a bit slower to the corner of the street.
Dad is curious.
Is this the time when he finally starts to act like a Dad?
When he's finally disappeared into the house I make my way fast to Jace car.
He drives as soon as I get in to keep away from the public eye.
When we have gotten really far, I breathe out glad that I made it without anyone noticing again today.
"You're wearing that jersey again." Jace says.
He's been starring at me the whole time.
I look at the jersey and sigh.
I wore it by mistake again!
"I took the wrong jersey I guess." I tell him irritated by my forgetfulness.
He stares back at the road flatly. "Or maybe you just love it."
I agree with him. "Probably." I make sure to hide it immediately when we arrive so Paul doesn't have to see it.
We don't say much anymore until we arrive on set.
I open my door but he stops me. "Allow me."
I watch him confused as he leaves the car and walks to my side of the door.
Jace opens my door and I roll my eyes.
"Seriously?"
He flashes me his colgate smile. "Mi amor."
The feeling is different today. I don't feel butterfly's in my stomach or nervous like the first time I met him.
I just felt at peace and secured.
