You can get hurt by love sometimes, I would know. But it's one of the only true things in the world. And when it gets hard, because you know it can, it's one of the few things that make us feel alive.
Love can also heal, it can mend your soul when it's been broken. It'll get easier, I promise. Remember that, it's the only thing we can bring with us when we die. I remember when we took that photo - we were just hanging around before we started dating. We were just kids when we fell in love, and now we're grown up. But I still love you. Your smile gives rise to the flutters in my heart, your eyes are lit up and so are mine.
And if things go sour, if you hurt me, that's okay. The only thing that will bleed inside these pages is the words. You can just hold me, and I won't ever let you go.
We could keep our love preserved forever in this photograph. Memories were made, lessons learned, but we could be frozen in time. Our eyes would never close, and our hearts would never break. So, if you would, you could keep me in the pocket of those ripped jeans you always wear. You could hold me close, and then our eyes would meet. You'd never be alone, all you'd have to do was wait for me to get there.
You could put me in the necklace you got where you were sixteen, resting on your chest. You could keep me right next to your heart. And when I'm away, I'll remember how we kissed under the lamp on Sixth street. I'll hear your voice through the phone. And please, just wait for me to come home.
