I cannot wait to show you where I grew up. I'll walk you around the fields and foothills of my town. In all honestly, it'll probably feel like you've been here before, considering all of the stories that I've been telling you since we got together. How long has it been, six months?
My parents will probably have us sleeping in separate bedrooms. And you should pack a shirt for when we undoubtedly go to church. And just a warning, my sister is going to ask about a million questions, and she'll say anything she can to make you blush. You'll meet all of my high school friends as well. They'll probably buy you drinks and then mortally embarrass me with stories of all of those crazy nights that I'll never outlive.
And I don't want to scare you off, but I think we should talk before we hit the road. Because if I bring you home to my mother, I really should warn you. She falls in love a little faster than I do, and so does my dad. He'll ask to talk with you after dinner, pour you some whiskey on the rocks. He'll check your tires, take you fishing, that kind of stuff.
So if we break up, I'll be okay after a while. But it's not just me. So if I bring you home, and then we break up, you need to know that my mother will feel the heartache like it's her own. If my dad sees me crying, he'll pour himself some whiskey over ice and lie, and say that he never really liked you.
So if you want to back out now, I'm not going to stop you. I really like you, and I'm serious about us, but my family will be too. And if we break up, I'll get over it, I'll be fine. But you'll be breaking more hearts than mine.
