I watched him wake up and stayed silent as he began to talk to me. Or rather, talk at me.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you," I replied with silence, and a hard stare. "I'm sorry to bother you, but could you tell me where I am? I have no idea where I am or how I got here, but I think I'm starting to understand why." I saw the wheels turning behind his eyes, and lifted up the corner of my mouth in a small smile.
"I don't belong amongst the angels, and baby? That's just fine with me. Those things I did up there? That was high school, a cocoon. Now I'm going to go for my degree." He couldn't do much from a cell, but one should never assume. I turned away for a moment to grab my water bottle, and when I got up there was a knife to my throat.
"Hey. Put it down." I raised my hands as he started his villain's monologue.
"Sorry, but you just kinda got in my way. I'm sorry because I can feel your pain, I just can. And maybe I enjoy it, I enjoy the pain. Inflicting it, and feeling it. Does that make me insane? I haven't been the same since I died, but don't take that the wrong way! I'm not planning on retiring here. And now I have all the power I need to pour fire over every single person here." He snarled, and I felt the blade inch closer to my neck.
Suddenly he relaxed and spun me around so I was facing him.
"Do I know you? Weren't we friends, back in the day?" I blinked and made eye contact. He was right. "Oh, and you left us. You left us far too early, my dear, but now we're meeting a second time." He looked me up and down. "We used to have so much fun together. And hey, maybe you have what I need."
"I doubt that."
"Oh, I don't. But first, I have one tiny question for you. Tell me, do demons like us bleed?"
I punched him in the face. "Sorry, but you're in my way now. And I can feel your pain too, and maybe I enjoy it just like you do. But I have more power than you now, and I'm not planning on quitting any time soon."
