Mila blinked slowly, processing what Ben just told her. "Your old man wants you to hold the meeting with the sidekicks Act in his stead?"

Ben, young and nervous, nodded slightly. "I would love it if you could join me? I mean, once I become king, you'll be my right hand man, of course," The prince smiled softly, the type of smile that would make anyone melt.

Mila pouted slightly at the look he was giving her. "Right hand woman, first of all. Second, sure, I'll help," She shrugged slightly. "But I do have to practice sword fighting with Lonnie in a bit so."

"Please don't use it as an excuse to not do your homework," Ben warned her, shuffling papers on his desk.

Gasping dramatically, the young dragon placed a hand on her heart. "Me? Not doing Homework? Perish the thought Benny-boo!"

Ben laughed, shaking his head. As much as he loved his life in Auradon, it was too perfect at certain times. So perfect in fact, it was boring. It's why he befriended the red haired dragon, who was far from.

Mila's messy, loud and bold, clever and sneaky in her own ways. Picking fights and getting mud everywhere, always running around somewhere. It was what made her so much fun when they were younger and that hadn't changed trough the years at all.

"Be careful about the sidekicks, son. Sooner or later they steal the spotlight." A third voice said, gaining the attention from the two friends.

Ben's father stood in the door opening, smiling at the two of them.

"I mean, they are the ones who keep the kingdom running," Mila muttered under her breath, making Ben chuckle slightly as he turned back towards the papers.

King Adam motioned to the stack of papers on Ben's desk. "Looks like you're working hard."

Ben nodded slightly as his father put a hand on his shoulder. "That's my boy. So what is it that they want, exactly?"

Ben scratched behind his ear with his pen. "It seems they're a bit upset, as they do all the work around here and are hardly compensated for their efforts. If you think about it from their perspective, they have a point."

If the widening smile of Mila, who's the daughter of one said sidekicks, was anything to go by, Ben would have guessed he said the right thing.

His father however, made a thoughtful noise. "Everyone gets a voice in Auradon. Although you can't let too many voices drown out reason, of course. That's what it means to be kingly."

Mila rolled her eyes slightly at the statement, knowing how unsure Ben already was about his future as king. Surely his advice came from a good heart but king Adam didn't always help with reassuring those insecurities.

Luckily Belle entered the room at that moment, reminding her husband to use his indoor voice.

Even with the curse lifted all those years ago, Adam had retained some of the more beastly traits. Like his temper and lack of control over the volume of his voice.

Figuring Belle could take the encouraging part from here, Mila turned to Ben, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Hey the meeting is this afternoon, right? Mind if I meet you there?," She said, grinning as Ben nodded.

"Yeah, yeah, of course. Go ahead, I'll meet you there," He smiled slightly.

Mila finger gunned at him, winking playfully at Belle before leaving the room.

The young dragon hurried to the gymnasium, where Lonnie was already waiting.

The sparring session didn't last long. Ben was obviously nervous and even tho she normally would not care about tardiness, this time Mila didn't want to be wait. Ben was nervous enough and she knew she needed to arrive before anyone else did.
