"Sorry i'm late," Mila huffed as Mal looked at her with an amused smile.
"No worries, I was sketching anyway." Mal said as she got up from the stone bench, putting her sketchbook away just in time to wrap her arms around Mila, who lifted the dark fairy of the ground with a grin.
"So, what have you've been up to today?" Mila asked once she set Mal back on the ground, as the two of them strolled trough the Auradonian gardens.
"Well," Mal started before chuckling softly. "I'll skip to the interesting part. So you know how I mentioned that Carlos wants to say the L word to Ben, but can't work up the courage?"
"I remember, yeah."
"So, he asked me to make him a truth gummy," Mal chuckled, pushing some purple locks away from her face. "But Dude ended up eating it."
Mila's step faltered as she stared at Mal, bewildered. "So now what?"
Mal smirked, keeping the same pace. "Now Carlos has a talking dog."
The roaring laughter behind her together with the fast footstep warned Mal of the arm that got wrapped around her shoulder. "Please tell me the first thing he did was ask for belly rubs."
Mal pouted playfully and shook her head. "Nope, butt scratches. Nice try."
The Dragon descendant sighed in mock defeat, before gently pressing a kiss to the side of Mal's head. "This might sound weird but i'm glad you stopped using magic to make your hair blonde. Purple suits you better."
Mal chuckled and nodded in agreement. "Yup, it was fun to try but definetely not something for me. FG's face when I turned it back to purple was hilarious tho," She grinned, as the two started giggling at the memory. The Fairy godmother ended up dropping the books she held, for the older lady was already way too used to Mal being blonde.
As their laughter died down, Mila seemed to remember something before pulling a thick, leather bound book out of her bag. "Oh, before I forget, I got you something." She grinned and held the book out towards Mal, who took it with a curious expression. As the Dark fairy started flipping trough it, scanning the pages, her eyes widened. "No way! How did you get this?"
Mila chuckled at Mal's excitement and folded her hands behind her head. "Let's just say Merlin has been quite unreasonable to me, so Arthur gave it to me as a peace offering. In return, I just promised to make Merlin's requests about magic a bigger priority."
"Still, he just handed you a book about magic? That Merlin himself wrote?" Mal questioned, raising an eyebrow. "He thought it might change my mind about Merlin's stand on magic," Mila chuckled.
Mal playfully rolled her eyes at how proud Mila seemed at herself and stood on her toes to give her a kiss. "Thanks, spitfire."
The two continued chatting as they eventually walked back towards Auradon Prep. The two ended up racing to who could reach Ben's office first, quite literally running into Jay who just came back from R.O.A.R training.
"Oops, sorry Jay, didn't see you there," Mila chuckled softly. Jay smirked and ruffled her hair. "Don't worry, you can make it up to me by sending some more of those dumplings from last week."
Mila mock saluted and promised to try to get more soon, which made Jay return the mock salute. Mal chuckled at her friends' antics before pulling both of them with her inside Ben's office.
Carlos, Evie and Ben were already there, apparently in a heated conversation. Evie seemed convinced that the exchange program would have to be under cover, preferbably a small group who wouldn't stand out so much. Ben's arguement was that it would feel like an invasion and that it needed to be clear, cause it was in the Isle's best interest.
Before anyone else could join in the conversation, Dude spoke up from his spot in Carlos' lap. "Just do both darnit! All of you will go scout first, then you can always make it more official later."
Carlos chuckled and petted the campus mascot, before putting his two cents in. "Can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Dude. It'll probably be best to make a small group go first."
"Then let's just limit it to us," Mal piped in, crossing her arms over her chest as she gained the attention of everyone else. "Just the six of us, it'll be a good change from cotillion."
Ben thought it over but before he could answer, Mila patted his back. "I think it's a good idea. What better way than sending the king himself with a bunch of teenagers? That way, we'll have first hand experience." Mila nodded slightly, but Ben ran a hand trough his hair as he thought it over. "What about Cotilion? Who will be in charge when we're on the Isle?"
"Jane and FG have the decorations and everything sorted out," Carlos pointed out.
Evie grinned and nodded. "And please, Doug knows where I have all my sketches and he can just recruit the three good fairies," her smile faltered slightly as she thought of the dress they made for sleeping beauty without using magic. "And of course, maybe leave them an official letter from the king they're allowed to use magic to make the outfits?"
"Besides, all the heavy lifting can be done by the tourney team?" Jay offered, shrugging slightly. "I'm sure they wouldn't mind."
"Not to forget the fact that there are literally 5 different chéf's working on the banquet." Mila said, as the five of them starred hopefully at Ben.
The young king sighed with a smile before shrugging slightly. "On one condition. We can't stay long, a day max."
"A day is all we need," Mal smirked, wrapping an arm around Mila.
"Um, Mal, not to interrupt whatever your plans are, but Mila and Ben need to come with me, right now." Evie said as she grabbed both Ben's and Mila's wrists. "Cause you two are not going there looking like that."
The two shared a look, but before they could protest the blue haired princess already dragged them along to her workspace, leaving no room for any arguements.
"So, am I going too?" Dude asked, making Carlos shake his head vigirously. "Nuhhuh, no way Dude. You're staying here."
"But who will cuddle with me if you're gone?" Dude huffed slightly.
"I'm sure the cheerleaders would love to shower you with cuddles and treats," Jay piped in with a grin, immediately changing Dude's mood for the better.
"Very well then, to the cheerleaders we go!" He said as he jumped of Carlos' lap and started running towards the fields.
The three vk's shared a look before running after the dog, knowing very well that he'll use the fact that he can talk to pursue people to give him chocolate.
