rain.

the sound of it reminds me of how we promised to dance together,
in the pouring rain.
while it soaks our clothes to our flesh,
to the point when I can see your skin through your shirt.
every single time I hear the sound of rain,
I think of the promise you had made.
I hope you keep it.
the rain pries two emotions from me,
both love and an aching pain of sadness,
knowing it will be months before I may touch your skin.
months,
before we dance in the rain together,
the water flicking from our soaked arms and hair.
your arms snaking around my waist,
pulling me into a kiss,
while I smile into your lips.
so,
every time I hear the sound of rain,
I smile at the hope of these events occurring with you and I.
yet,
I cry over the possibility of never touching your skin.
never dancing in the rain with you.
of never receiving kisses from you.
And,
I hope you know the kisses will never get annoying.
The kisses,
will only cause my heart to latch on tighter and tighter,
knowing you love me.
genuinely love me.
I will sob,
knowing how long it'll be until we dance in the rain again,
until you place kisses upon my skin over and over,
until you hold me tight as we fall asleep.
until I see you again.
until you come home again.
