but it hurt once i saw how he looked at me.
the spark that had been filled with so much love,
just days ago,
had been out of sight.
not even a glimpse remained.

it hurt.

it hurt knowing that love had trickled out of his eyes, leaving his body,
leaving me without him.

it wasn't the same eyes that saw me as the most beautiful woman to ever exist,
or the one he planned to marry.

and with knowing that,
i slipped the promise ring off my finger and into the palm of his hand.

he questioned what i was doing,
but with simple words as i walked the other way,
you don't love me quite the same at all any longer.

it hurt.

it hurt every part of me,
shattered my heart,
but it would only kill more to stay even when i knew so much love he had for my left.

yes,
i desired an answer.
but i couldn't stay,
for knowing i may come back.
