Tara's mom called Adi

"Adi"

"Hello yaaru?"

"Ada pavi athukula maranthutiya"

"Maaaa summa velanden epdi irukeenga"

"Nalla kelu. 2 weeks aachu! Engala vanthu paakala pesala ana Tara kita mattum hours kanakula pesa vendiyathu"

This was new to him. A parent calling and fighting with him because he didn't call or visit. He has seen it in movies, in his friends houses but to experience it- was a special feeling.

He couldn't resist. He was very emotional.

He jogged over to her house while still on call

"Hello hello Adi irukiya da"

Doorbell rang

"Line leh iru yaaro vanthirukanga" she said and opened the door

Tara's mom- Renu saw Adi standing there. He was tired but his eyes showed excitement and eagerness

She let him in.

"Amma" was all he could say

As the word rolled out of his mouth, he realized this is the first time he meant what he said. He started to tear up.

Renu hugged him. She didn't know why he was so emotional. Maybe he didn't have parents-- she thought

As he calmed down, she spoke

"Dei Adi. Nee evlo periya professor nee laam chinna pulla mathiri azhalama. Enna pa aachu"

And now Adi was looking at her in disbelief -- how did this woman give him so much love that he was refused in the past with just a statement. "Evlo periya professor" "Enna pa aachu" "chinna pulla mathiri panatha" was all that he ever wanted to hear from his own mother.

He stared at her with love

"Thanks ma" he said

"Enna aachu nu olunga sollu ilana inge pudichu vechiruven, naliki college poga mudiyathu paathuko"

Adi spoke about his family

Renu heard it patiently. She was right in a way-- he didn't have parents.

Adi waited for her response.

"Adi" she spoke after a minute

"Ma"

"Neeyum en pulla thaan" she smiled

He smiled widely. And then he looked around the house

"Tara enga. Paathu romba neram aaguthu"

She hit him.

"Thirunthave ila la. Epdi da ivlo dhairiyama ponnoda amma kite kekura"

"Na ponnoda amma kita kekala. Ennoda amma kita thaan kekuren" he said adorably

She couldn't stop her smile

"Po poi tholla. Ava mela thaan iruka" she swatted him away

Adi went upstairs

Tara was working on something

He went and sat on the couch

No reaction

He decided to whistle

No reaction

He hummed

No reaction

He started to sing "oru thendral puyal aagi-"

Tara jerked

"Nee thaana"

"Adi paavi. Na kooda odi vanthu Adiii nu kathuva nu nenachen"

"Morning thaana video call pana. Etho pala maasam paakatha mathiri reaction laam expect panatha" She continued working

"Busy ah"

"Ama last 3 days as an intern, next week la irunthu officially an employee" she said happily

"Heyyy that's great news. Kandipa celebrate panrom"

She started working again

Adi got bored

He laid on the couch and played with a ball he found

Tara's father walked in

Adi stopped playing and peeked

"Appa neenga thaana"

Tara turned around shocked. She thought her father would be angry but he laughed and ruffled Adi's hair

"Appa" she called

"Enna ma"

"Namma family ah nenacha romba perumaiya iruku" she said sarcastically

He smiled with actual pride and left

"Ennada nadakuthu" she muttered

"Oi seekiram work mudiyen. Na iniki cook panlam nu iruken"

Food was the best motivator for Tara. She completed it within 40 minutes and turned to Adi

"Va polam" she said happily
