Proposal - the other side:
Adi kept stealing glances from Tara.
He was calm on the outside but he was feeling a 1000 butterflies, his heart was in chaos. Suddenly it felt like the first time he realized his love for her. The same butterflies, the same chaos.
But this time it's only going to take him a few minutes to utter what's in his heart.
....
Tara on the other hand was oblivious. She is a smart woman, but food blinds her sometimes. Actually, it blinds her all the time.
Since the menu was on her mind, she didn't have to time to think about why everyone was starring at Adi in the table or why Tarun kept gulping water or why her father and Rakesh were weirdly emotional.
She looked around the place they came to. It was simple. Just the grass, a few fairy lights, and a few blankets to sit. There was no roof, no concrete. She was starting to think about why no one else was there, but she looked at the sky and her thoughts traveled to one of her favorite memories.
....
Adi taking her outside wasn't new to her. Even if it's in his own house, he'll call her to the terrace. When questioned, he said "The sky makes every moment better. The clouds, sun, moon, stars - ipdi ulagathulaye azhagana vishayangal ellame sky kita mattum thaane iruku. Athaan, enaku atha paathute iruka pudikum. Evlo chaos ulla irunthalum, oru vaati paathale pothum, calm aaiduven.
So, any time of the day, enaku antha vaanam venum"Adi has said numerous I love yous and beautiful words. But somehow, this ended up staying in her heart. She always thinks about it when she catches him seeing the sky. Sometimes she has even felt a little jealous at the way he admired it.
.....
But this night something was different. He looked at her. Only her. He didn't even look up to see the moon. His eyes never left her. She started to blush.
"Sky paathiya" she asked, wondering if he'll look up now after hearing her
"Mmm hmmm evening paathen" he said, still looking at her
Something was off. She thought.
"Ukkarlama anga" she pointed to one of the blankets that were laid out
"Ila ila...konja neram kalichu polam" Adi stumbled at his words.
Something was definitely off.
Adi knew he has to do it soon or she'll guess what was coming.
Tara looked back and found their table to be empty. Her eyes were wandering to other tables. She couldn't find her group.
"Adi appa amma laam enga ponanga nu paathiya aale kanom"
Ada paavingala enga da irukeenga - he thought and searched everywhere. He couldn't find them. He thought to thank them later for hiding so well.
"Therila ma, namma pesa vantha mathri avungalum apde jodi jodi ah poirupanga. Namaku ethuku" he shrugged
"Apo Tarun"
"Athaan antha maanga kooda irupane"
"Ohhhh irukum irukum"
....
Adi turned around once again because he was sure he heard someone yell "Moochu vidu" - he assumed one of his friends were asking him to calm down.
But he didn't know that it was Aditi asking Rakesh because he almost forgot to breathe while waiting for this proposal to happen.
"Seri ipo ipde ninute iruka poroma"
