Alternate Author's Notes

Hello! I'm the author to Alternate! You can call me Author or Sara or whatever! I have a few notes, requests, and the like for everyone currently reading this.

First, I'd like to introduce you to, well, you. You are you, the Ultimate Lucky Student. That's you. Also, you are designated by she/her pronouns here, but if you go by other pronouns, just pretend that I didn't write she/her! If you want to knock the "s" off of "she," do exactly that. Uichi Aihara is canon bisexual, so he can and will love anyone. Same for they/them, but as of typing this, I didn't think of a joke but he still loves you and so do I! Your pronouns and identity are valid, I just didn't consider anything other than she/her when I started this, and I'm too tired and lazy to fix it.

Well, anyways, next I'd like to note that this fanfic doesn't follow the canon storyline, but all the rules still apply. There will be different deaths and trials, so maybe your favorite will survive this time! That's where the title came from as well. Since this is the nature of this story, some events that you know about seem off. A big example I was worried about was how I used the Necronomicon. To avoid spoiling my own story, I won't say anything else, but if something seems different, please ignore it. It'll sort out later. Also, your monopads have updated! The students can write, message, and share documents with each other using it.

Another thing to note is that I do NOT ship about half of the ships I put in here! This story has been a work-in-progress for almost three years and, needless to say, I went through "ship phases" that I regret but don't feel like rewriting! My sincerest apologies.

Next up, I just wanted this story to be D O N E. I am not an experienced mystery writer, or writer in general for that matter, so bits of the story—especially the trials—will seem rushed. That's because they are. Give me a break.

Okay, but also, how many people here like having their grammar and typos corrected? I do. This is a story I worked over two years on, and I'm not risking the quality with a typo or a misplaced comma. If you see something, please please PLEASE leave a (polite) comment!!! Thank you!

Finally, if you've read this far, I'd like to congratulate you. This is the part where I tell you my motivation for this fanfiction. It's spite! I was so angry at myself and this fandom that I decided to pull a Junko and have you all suffer. Anyways, that's about what fueled this. Rage and spite. I wouldn't go as far as to say despair, but, you know.
