"Rise and shine, Ursine!" The call echoed through my room like a bullet in a tunnel. It was morning, horrible, dreadful morning. Just yesterday, a killing game started. How was I supposed to survive a killing game? We were given a motive, too. The first blood perk.
"As if!" I yelled aloud, remembering the dumb motive. "No one will kill each other! All we have to do is coexist!" I threw myself out of bed and got ready for the day. I put on my clothes — a pair of jean shorts, some black, thigh-high socks, and a pink shirt with black sleeves, found my sneakers, and headed to the dining hall.
"Good morning, everyone!" I cheered. "It's a beautiful day! The sun is shining on all of us! Let's use this to our advantage and—"
"Shut up!" The blonde girl yelled. I knew her as Miu Iruma, the erratic and erotic inventor. "It's too early for your shouting!" I quietly sat down, hoping that we'd eat soon. Everyone seemed like they were in a bad mood; the kind of bad mood that could only get better through quiet time alone. As such, I remained quiet. That's what they wanted. Some conversation happened, about the killing game, of course. I wasn't good at talking about depressing things, so I didn't participate. After all, I figured we could all escape together if we just put our minds to it and—
"y/n, you've been quiet, what do you think?" the astronaut, Kaito Momota, asked. "About the killing game."
"I think we are all talented and smart, so if we all just work together, we can make it out without killing each other. So, please, let's all be friends!" Some people smiled at me, whilst others murmured, and one particular boy giggled at me, sinisterly. "Until then, why don't we all move around in groups of three? That bear said that if a body was found, and three people found it, a bell would go off. So if someone dies, a group finds it, and the bell doesn't go off, it'll narrow down our suspect list!"
"That was a crazy long explanation for someone who just said we should all be friends," said Keebo, the exceptionally human-like robot.
"I second this plan! Y/n knows what she's talking about!" Tenko Chabishira, the aikido master yelled.
"Clearly, she doesn't know what she's talking about," said Miu. "There's seventeen of us! That's not divisible by three!"
"Yeah, but I'm just gonna go off on my own, so now you have sixteen," said the dictator known as Kokichi Oma. He was the one giggling earlier. "The rest of you can do what you want." He finished his meal and began to leave.
"Kokichi! We can add you to a group! It's fine!" I called after him. However, since the group itself was the problem, he didn't listen. He didn't want to be bothered.
"Well, who's in groups?"asked the mysterious boy, Rantaro Amami. After that, people began drifting towards one another. A black-clad boy, detective Shuichi Saihara, followed around a blonde girl, pianist Kaede Akamatsu. Tenko practically clung to the magician—erm, mage—, Himiko Yumeno. The child caregiver, Maki Harukawa, pretended not to follow Kaito, but it was obvious she was. Angie Yonaga, the artist, filled the last space with Tenko and Himiko. Miu and Keebo chose each other. I realized that there wasn't many people left. Korekiyo Shinguji, the eerie anthropologist, teamed up with the tennis player, Ryoma Hoshi, and maid, Kirumi Tojo. The only ones left were the cosplayer, Tsumugi Shirogane, entomologist Gonta Gokuhara, Rantaro, and myself. Besides that, Keebo and Miu, Kaito and Maki, and Kaede and Shuichi only had two people in their groups. Tsumugi, Gonta, and Rantaro got in their own group, leaving me left.
"Y/n! Join me and Maki!" Kaito called. Maki seemed visibly frustrated by this. Nevertheless, I was invited, so I had to.
"Okay!" I said, running over there. "So should we all go off in groups and explore the school?" The idea was seconded by the population. Kaito, Maki, and I decided to explore the second floor, by Maki's vote. But before any of us left—
