Silver Lining (A STRQ Reader Story)

Initiation

Ozpin: Attention Applicants. It is here that your combat abilities will be tested. Below us, there lies a forest infested with Grimm. Your goal here will be to make it to one of the sanctuaries in the forest in order to collect a relic. The first person you make eye contact with will be your partner for the remainder of your time here at Beacon. Beware, although the amount of Grimm in this forest is low if you hesitate for even a moment in battle...you'll die. To start the test you'll all be launched off of this cliff one at a time.

A lot of the applicants shuddered at the thought of falling to their deaths.

Random Applicant: So um Professor Ozpin did you hand out parachutes earlier today?

Ozpin: You'll be making your own landing strategy

It seemed at the time that everyone simultaneously gulped.

Ozpin: Now is the time for you to prove that you belong at this academy. Good luck

And with that announcement over applicants started to be launched seemingly at random into the forest. Initiation had begun.

Ozpin: 'I think I just gained a new a interest'

As I was falling through the air I took note that for some reason no applicants were around me.

Sil: 'That's weird, you'd think I'd see at least one person near my area. Finding a partner's gonna be  pain- oh wait I should probably stop myself from falling to death'

I activated my semblance and focused on Heaven. I fired a string of shots at a tree in hopes of using ice dust to create a semi landing slide.

Sil: Aura don't fail me now

I had used my aura to tank the impact of my body hitting the ice and luckily it worked. After the initial hit I was able to simply slide down the ramp created safely to the ground. I began to make my way to the nearest sanctuary which happened to be in the middle of the forest.

Sil: 'Well there goes the last of my ice dust. If Summer hadn't conned me I'd have some for the trial. I swear if I die here I'll haunt that Cookie Monster for the rest of her life'

I noticed the bushes around me start to move slightly.

Sil: Oh so it's starting

I quickly changed Heaven into Hell before assuming a battle stance.

Sil: 'It's been awhile since I've last fought any Grimm so I may be a little rusty'

As I finished my thought one of the Grimm jumped out from a bush to my left.

Sil: 'A Beowolf huh'

As it lunged towards me I quickly spun my blade decapitating the Grimm. I watched it fade into  particles. The others had taken this as an invitation to attack me. There were about seven of them in total. Their beading red eyes staring directly at me as they all lunged forward. I ducked in order to dodge the first one while pushing myself forward. I did a vertical slash upwards which split the second beowolfs mouth in two killing it. Three and four were charging together in which two slashes in front of me dealt them their end.

Sil: 'The first one I dodged has regained it's footing'

As number one started the motion of lunging at me I activated my semblance and strafed to the left while throwing my weapon at it. Hell landed directly into it's head applying burn damage which finished it off. The remaining beowolfs had charged me on all sides aside from behind. I ran towards the one directly in front of me while the other two quickly appeared at its side. I pushed its head down into the ground before kicking the remaining two away. In the time it had taken them to recover, I was able to dash towards my weapon which was sitting on ground after the Grimm I had killed dissipated. With one dash I quickly decapitated the remaining Grimm.
