Silver Lining (A STRQ Reader Story)

The First Mission Part 1

(6 Months Late School/Work Be like, I'll try to be more consistent from now on)

1st Person POV (Silenius)

And just like that it was the end of our first year at Beacon which meant that it was time for the freshman to embark upon their very first official mission as huntsman in training. STRQ and I had been summoned to the headmaster's office. As we began to make our way there Tai spoke with his hands behind his head.

Tai: Wonder what the headmaster wants with all of us

Summer skipped a bit in front of us before spinning around to continue walking backwards.

Summer: Maybe he wants to rewards us for our hard work this year

Qrow: Doubt it. We haven't really done that much better than any of the other team

Tai: We did catch a criminal, How many other teams can say that

Raven: But that was a while ago, So why reward us months later?

Sil: Missions are coming up soon. He probably wants to ask you guys to take on a specific one as your first. And Summer, stop walking backwards you're gonna run into someone

Summer completely ignoring the latter half of my sentence responded

Summer: That doesn't really explain why he asked for you to come as well though

We finished our conversation as Summer skipped on over to knock on the door. The door opened revealing Professor Amethyst who ushered us inside. Ozpin had been sitting in his chair with his hands crossed before greeting us.

Ozpin: Welcome STRQ/Silenius, As you all are aware off, the time has come for the first years to be assigned their first actual mission. Normally a team would select a task to complete along side a licensed huntsman but for you select few I'll be bending the rules a bit

I gave off a slight deadpan

Sil: 'Why am I not surprised' How will you cheat the system for us this time

He chuckled

Ozpin: I wouldn't call it cheating the system. It's more like using the rules in a different way

Qrow/Raven: 'That's called a loophole.....'

Ozpin continued

Ozpin: Besides it hardly matters since the mission difficulty will still be that of a first years. You will all go to a town in the outskirts of Vale for Grimm extermination

Sil: 'Something seems off here'

Summer: So professor if you don't mind me asking, what exactly was the reason you felt the need to personally hand us this if it's just Grimm ex

Summer's question prompted professor Amethyst to speak up in a sarcastic albeit aggravated tone.

Amethyst: Yes Ozpin tell this group of children the brilliant idea you came up with

Ozpin paused before replying

Ozpin: This isn't an order or anything but I will be giving you all the option to complete the mission without the guidance of a professional huntsman

The statement had prompted a flabbergasted response from all of us including myself

Sil: 'There it is, I knew something was off here' Professor will all due respect STRQ may be stronger than the average first year team but isn't that taking it a bit too far?

Tai chimed in

Tai: I mean if it's only Grimm Ex and the Headmaster thinks we can handle it I don't think it'll be that bad
