Strong.

Powerful.

Emotionless.

Those words are what most people think when they look at Humanity's Strongest Soldier. They see him as a cruel, sadistic man who doesn't care about anything. The man without a heart: Levi Ackerman, or Captain Levi as many cadets addressed him.

(Y/N) joined the Survey Corps a little over a month ago, and, just yesterday, she was forced into The Special Operations Squad by Commander Erwin. He gave zero shits that she'd rather live in the shadows than be a part of the important squad. She just had to graduate as number one, and become the necessary asset in his 'save the world' equation.

She met the others only a while ago: Petra Ral, Eld Jinn, Eren Jaeger, Gunther Schult, Oluo Bozado, and of course Captian Levi. All of them— except for Oluo who kept calling her a rookie— were incredibly nice. Petra even insisted on giving her a tour of their headquarters. (Y/N) could imagine that most people liked her caring and sweet attitude.

"Cadet (L/N)!" Petra and the girl halted at the voice. They turned around to witness the captain slowly catching up to where they stood. The two women immediately saluted in his presence. "Tch, that's enough." They lowered their hands at the command.

"What is it, Sir?"

"Follow me to my office." Petra knowingly smiled at her as she nervously reciprocated before following the short corporal. She wondered what he could possibly want to discuss with her. The two arrived at his office. He opened the door and held it open for her. She walked inside his unsurprisingly clean office. She supposed the rumors of him being unable to tolerate clutter and grime were true.

Levi harshly demanded her to sit in one of the chairs facing his desk. She followed his orders without hesitation, which piqued his interest. He walked toward his desk and sat down.

"I need to assign your chores. You being a new addition doesn't give you a free pass."

"Would think nothing less, Sir." He had been preparing to reprimand her for stuttering or talking back, but her lack of doing so caught him off guard. Eyebrows had written her off as a wallflower of sorts when she had tried to deny this position. He would have made her out to be a coward who would rather get pissed in the military police than fight Titans at the front lines. However, her upfront attitude truly struck a chord within him, but he refused to reveal that moment of vulnerability.

"I want your room spotless. I want to be able to see my reflection in the air. You will find the cleaning supplies in the closet down the hall. Don't fuck up the organization in there." Levi wanted his request to seem completely outlandish in hopes of getting some reaction out of her. Perhaps being a shitty leader would push her buttons, and satisfy his sadistic tendencies.

"I'll skip lunch if I have to, Sir." His brow furrowed. It worried him greatly to be in the presence of someone he didn't intimidate. He wasn't used to her lack of stuttering and fear. The fact that she didn't eagerly try and get to work irked him as well. She really knew how to behave in his presence.

"Dismissed." She stood up, saluted, and walked out. Levi stared after the cadet before shaking his head and starting his paperwork. Unfortunately, he couldn't help but multitask and think about her.

(Y/N) let out a sigh of relief as soon as she left his office. It had been incredibly difficult to maintain that calm and collected façade. His harsh demands and strange requests almost got under her skin, but her obeying attitude helped to distract her from his tone. She had years to perfect that professional side of her. It was crucial she never cracked because it was the only way she could avenge her parents.
