I had the sudden urge to wake up and I did. The place was still really dark and everything was extremely quiet. It took a moment to remember where I was and why I was sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag but it eventually returned to me.
With my thoughts finally on the right train, I decided that I wanted to see what the outside looks like at nights. I was never afraid of the dark. From as long as I can remember the dark always amazed me. You could say I am a night owl but the fact will never change. From the majestic out of this world stars to the jet blackness that coats everything, the nights were beautiful. A dark and unexplained kind of beauty but still beauty.
Carefully untangling myself from the sleeping bag that seemed determined to keep me in it's clutches, I made it to the zipper for our tent. My friends were still asleep so I took extra care when un zipping so as to not wake them. It was barely open about three inches when I saw a shadow through the tiny hole.
I wonder who is up this late. I've checked my phone and it says its ten past one in the morning and the place is still dark. Maybe they couldn't sleep. I focused more on the figure and realized that it was a boy I had seen in my brothers class earlier. He was well built and just stood there a few feet away from our tent hands in his pockets. Well if he chose to stand there instead of sleeping he is really crazy. I opened it a bit more and decided that I will just watch the stars from my tent instead of just going out. I watched for a while and the boy was also in my line of sight.
I saw him turn his head towards our tent but I was in a position where he could not see me or see that the tent was open. He observed for a while and then turned back to whatever he was previously looking at. I went back to star gazing and as I was about to close the tent and head back to sleep, the lad moved again. This time his other hand moved toward his other pocket and slipped out with his phone. Someone called him and throughout the entire conversation his hand didn't leave his other pocket. Wow he is weird. Seems like I wasn't meant to sleep tonight as when I went to close the tent again, I saw four shadows came into view. Three of those were my brothers and one I didn't recognize.
This was weird but I couldn't pick up why. Then it hit me. They were supposed to be asleep in the tent besides ours not out to god knows where fully dressed in formal attire. Wow, they are sneaking out to parties but I can't even leave the house. These little devils. They conversed for a while with the boy standing there and they seemed to like what they have heard. Not long after the other two boys that I don't know left. I had a feeling they would come to our tent now so I zipped it back up and went quickly to lie down.
I wasn't wrong.
"She's sleeping"
"See he said they were why bother..."
I didn't hear the rest of the conversation as they zipped up back the tent and left. I know they went in theirs as I heard it zipped. I fell asleep once more pondering the events of this night.
